I don’t think you need to at all. We didn’t and it worked fine– the readers just knew when during the ceremony they were supposed to go, and they got up and did their thing. Our wedding wasn’t in a church either. Just went to a wedding on Friday and they did the same thing.

PS: We did include the titles of the readings, and the identities of our readers, in our program. Smile

I don’t think you need to announce them.  Just make sure they know when they are reading and perhaps have the officiant cue them (with a nod or something).

We listed our reader in the program along with what they were reading.  I don’t plan to have them formally announced – they’ll just get up and do their thing!

You can have the minister/judge/whoever simply say “At this time, we’d like to invite Dancelvr84’s sister, Joan (or whoever), to come up and share a reading/thoughts/whatever.”
