@Ms Rocky Point: I'd suggest calling them so you have an idea of how comfortable each of them is with it. Then I'd follow up with a nice thank you card the next day, expressing how much you appreciate and that you'll be excited to see them at the wedding.

Hi Bees! We are asking 3 people to do readings at our ceremony. How do you do this? Is email ok? Shoudl I call? Do I have to see the person?
Background:
#1:friend of my family for over 20 years. Lives 45minutes away. It is unlikely that I will see her naturally before the wedding
#2: friend of ours and my brother for 10+ years. Lives 1.5 hours away. VERY unlikely that I will see him before the wedding, but could happen. If so, not till June (wedding in July)
#3: Friend of his family for 20+ years. Unlikely that we will see him before wedding unless we make that hapen. lives 40min away.
