Is anyone or has anyone busteled (sp?) their Cathedral Veil for the reception?  I'm considering doing this and I'm looking for some ideas/feedback...thoughts?  Pictures would be great is anyone has them.  The veil I'm thinking about getting is very plain and does not have the blusher.  Thanks...

Have you considered taking the veil off for the reception?  That is what I plan on doing (and I'm looking at a chapel veil)

I've never heard of anyone leaving on a cathedral veil for the reception.  Most people don't leave on any veil, I think, except maybe for the first dance.  If it is important for you to wear one for the reception, maybe you should by a separate elbow length one.

I have thought about getting another veil for the reception but I thought I'd explore the option of busteling first since I've heard it can be done...

I've never seen it done. Most just take it out for the reception.  I'd be scared to bustle anything attached to my head...

Haha...yeah I've heard it's been done but never actually talked to someone who has done it so maybe I better bag the idea!!!!  Thanks for everyone's input.

I feel like it would start to feel very heavy hanging off your head all night.

Yeah i hear ya, I'd probably only keep in on for the entrance, first dance etc...that's sort of why I wanted to try to get away without having to buy another.

I'm with never hearing about anyone wanting to leave their veil on during the reception.  Seems like it would get annoying after awhile.

hold on a second! i am wearing my mom's cathedral length veil and it was bustled for her wedding. there is a very descrete button that the longer part is brought up and attached to the part on your head so it can be done! i dont have the photos for you, but if that's what you have your heart set on than that is what you should do. ask whomever is altering your dress if they would take a look at it.

personally, i havn't decided, but am leaning toward taking it off. my mom wore hers all night though and is hoping i do the same- it did look beautiful:)

Sew a small length of ribbon - about 16 inches long - making a loop at your waist on the back of your gown. Bring your veil through the ribbon making a large pouf that is about three feet. The veil should be off the ground and ready to go.

I've seen this and it's really beautiful - quite stunning. After about an hour, the bride took the veil off, pulled her hair up and pinned in a flower.

I think that you could probably have it bustled in with the dress.. so like they kind of go in together.. I think it would look very classy this way.

I think you can bustle it like a french bustle. I agree with Gamblina that you should ask your seamstress about it. I found a picture of a bustled veil here:

I have a catherdral veil also. I am taking if off for the reception but will have my tiara on so there is still something on my head that shines!  Keeping the veil on would annoy me I think and would just get stepped on.

I just bought my dress and veil today at Kleinfelds. I also got a really long veil (actually not sure if mine is considered a Catherdral veil!) that I was initially intending to just wear for the ceremony, but my consultant showed me how mine could be bustled, and it looked amazing. I think I'm going to wear it bustled for at least the first dance and some pictures. I'm attaching a picture of mine to help explain.

Where I put the red line is the middle of the veil, and there is a like of beading there as well. You pick it up in the middle from that part, and bring that up to the top of your veil, and you can secure it with a hat pin. It looked great, although i'm not sure I'd trust it to be secure enough for long term wear. Maybe you could do something like that?
