Go through the grapevine. Talk to your female friends, your female relatives, your female relatives’ female friends, your female friends’ female relatives … check in with ladies who are married, or who have been bridesmaids in other people’s weddings, and have had to have alterations to their dresses. They should be able to warn you off incompetent seamstresses and point you toward people who have done a good job for them.

Maybe also try posting on the “Local” boards for your area?

Awesome – so glad it was useful to you! Did you find her through the grapevine, the local boards, or a combination of both?
