@lovelymamaN:  Apparently the closer to ovulation you concieve the more likely it is to be a boy, because girl sperm live longer but boy sperm are faster.

I don’t want to discourage you but I wouldn’t put too much faith in the Shettles method. When I conceived, we’d only had sex once, the day I supposedly ovulated and we’re having a girl (we weren’t trying for a particular gender)

I would agree with PP, the evidence for Shettles method is weak at best. Other methods (e.g. diet, weight) have generally poor evidence for them as well.

The website below reviews the main studies about the timing method

I guess you can take some minor hope in the fact that there’s naturally a higher % ofetuses infants born naturally

My sister in law tried everything, and I mean everything to have a baby boy to please her husband…. Still needed up being a girl. I don’t think you have any choice in the matter really? That’s just what I think. I thought some of the things she tried sounded plausible like the girl swimmers living longer ext… but I thought mot of it was Old wives tales

There are no differences between X and Y sperm and any information to the contrary is misinformation. If you’re feeling scientific, you can read more here. There is nothing you can do except haved sperm separated and typed outside of the body, or use in vitro methods and only select male embryos.

If Shettles was accurate, we would be having a girl. But we got a baby boy.

@FisherQueen:  Thanks for that link. H and I were just talking tonight about whether we would “try” for a girl soon. I guess I’m going to try and convince him now, “why bother…”!

Ok, first your man needs to eat pickled herring. Then he needs to get some ice and cool his junk off before the sex. Then during the act, have him face you due north. Oh, and make sure you avoid lemons. They are baby girl fertilizer.
