I would show your girls this picture, and then have them pick out their own dresses (but get your approval before purchasing). It will probably be easier for your BMs to find unique little black dresses if they shop around on their own. There are so many cute black dresses out there, and you would probably actually be limited by just sticking with traditional bridesmaid dresses.
Try the Dessy collection of BM dresses. They have a ton of dresses and most of them come in a huge selection of the same colors, that way you could have all the girls wear the same color, but in a different dress.
I love that look too! But I doubt that the dresses in the picture are bridesmaids dresses. They probably got those dresses at department stores or other regular stores.
lol those are my bridesmaids. :)
They didn't get official "bridesmaid" dresses-- they just got adorable individual cocktail dresses from local stores like Macy's, Bloomingdale's, White House Black Market, etc. I just asked them to pick out (or choose from their closet) a black knee-length dress, whichever one they liked (I didn't care about fabric or anything, and they all have great style so I knew they'd each pick something lovely). I loved the way they looked, and I think they all felt comfortable as well.
@jhphi- That's really funny that those are your bridesmaids!!
I would do what PP said and just give them some specifications with what to look for in their dress and tell them you have veto power in case you really don't like one for some reason.
no clue but i have to post because i love this look :)
good luck and yes i think if you give them specification and show them this picture they will get what you want
@jhphi: You have some seriously fashionable ladies!!
I love that look! I think LBDs are the way to go. That's a great inspiration photo for someone just starting out or for your BMs to take to the store!
@jhphi- that is so funny that those are your girls! I am so in love with their dresses! They look like they are all so close in length, I thought they were custom! Did they get them altered to be the same length?
@ablet: nope, they didn't get them altered to the same length, it just somehow worked out that way. I'll attach a pic from them in the church, so you can see that they're each a little bit different in length, and that it still looked great.

Super cute! Thanks for the picture!
PS- Just noticed you got married on my birthday! haha
I did mismatched dresses. Just make sure your girls get the same color and fabric so it looks uniformed.

I love the look of mismatched BM dresses, especially when the dresses are a bit out of the ordinary, like in the pic below.
Any ideas of good BM dress designers to look at to achieve this look?
