I haven't made one myself, but check out marthastewart.com for instructions. I believe Martha sticks a chopstick or a skewer through the ball, pulls the doubled ribbon through the hole, and knots it at the bottom.
I'd keep them in the fridge.
I made a pomamnder from floral foam and it was fine for 3 days. It does not dry out overnight. I kept mine out sitting on top of a wide mouthed vase.
Flowers last longer if refrigerated but not in a fridge full of food. (bacteria will ruin/damage flowers) If it's too cold it might freeze them. So be careful!
Is the foam you bought caged? The foam I used was a cage so I tied a a green pipe cleaner into a loop and then tied the ribbon to that. If it's a not then I have hot glued a floral pick into it and then tied the ribbon to that. I'm sure you can go into Martha's site and find a tutorial or on Youtube.
I hope this helps a little!
Thank you, weddingmuse and bree. that helps a lot! i will try the caged foam and will def check out martha stewart's tutorial! thanks!!

Hi all, i know that instructions for fresh floral pomanders have been posted before (i.e. by miss gummie bear) but i haven't been able to figure out how to get the ribbon looped on there!
i know the ball gets pretty heavy with the water, so how do make sure the ribbon doesn't fall off when the flower girl holds it up?? also, can you make these the night before and be certain that the water inside the foam ball will keep the flowers fresh? do you refrigerate?
what would i do without y'all... thanks for your help!!
