I decided I do not want to get a wedding band to add to my engagement ring. (I like the way it looks all by itself!) My question is, how do we do the ring part in our ceremony? Should I just take my ring off before hand and have him re-give it to me at the ceremony? We are getting him a wedding band so, of course we will definitely do the ring part.
Any body else in this situation? How will you handle it? Any suggestions would be helpful!
the typical words of the ring part are "take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity..." you can simply have your groom modify the words to something like, "I presented this ring to you X months/years ago to seal a promise to commit myself to you for the rest of my life. Today I make good this promise. Take, once again, this ring as a sign..."
You get the idea. I made that up on the fly, so do with it what you will. mazeltov!
Oh, I'm so glad there's someone else out there doing this! I thought I was the only one :) I definitely don't want another ring to go with my engagement ring, but still haven't dealt with the logistics. Honestly, I was just going to take it off beforehand and then treat it as a normal wedding band - hadn't thought of changing the wording etc. But I'm curious to see other ideas - I might yet change my mind as to how we do it!
I am doing the same thing! I'm also very glad others are too, everyone keeps acting like I'm crazy because I don't want a wedding band. My ring is perfect just the way it is and everyone I know who has added wedding bands to their rings ends up changing them/disliking them.
I was thinking about just getting a cheap silver band just for the ceremony since I won't ever wear it again (I'm not a big jewelry person.) but I think that MsPopcorns idea is much better!
