What is the best way to figure out how much alcohol we need to buy?

We are able to bring in our own and will buy beer, wine, and rum for the Mia Tais. We have about 80 people coming. Not eveyone drinks and they all drink totally different amounts. My mom will have 2 glasses of wine while some my cousin-in-law is going to party it up. :-)

Like most people. we are on a budget. I am trying to figure out how much we will need to buy/spend. Suggestions?

Evite.com has really awesome drink calculator.  You just put in the number of your guests, whether they are light, medium, or heavy drinkers, how long the party is,  and what kind of booze they'll be drinking and... VOILA!  The number is calculated for you!  Go to the Entertaining tab and then click on the link on the right that says "Drink Calculator."

OMG! You were not joking, that thing is AMAZING!

It breaks it down into how many bottles of wine and beer!  AMAZING!  You're a life saver, thanks!

Can you also ask your caterer?  Ours is sending us a list of everything we'll need, since it's a BYOB situation.
