I personally have not, but I know there are many bees on here who have. Why are you regretting your dress choice?

I highly recommend you refrain from looking at other dresses if you already purchased yours.

I’m in the middle of trying to get over my dress regret.  I posted a picture of me in the dress on here to see how I could make the dress better.   Why are you having regrets?  It’s really hard.  I didn’t think I would have issues with a dress as long as it looked fine on me, but I was wrong.  For me I care too much about what other people think,  so I’m worried that I’m not going to look wow enough in the dress I chose.  Also I feel like I chose a dress that others liked vs what I liked, which is why I’m in the same situation as you are.  Many people suggested that I go back and try on the dress with accessories to see if I will like it better.  Maybe that’s something you can do.   What dress did you choose?  I’m sure the dress you chose is beautiful and you’ll look  great on your wedding day.

bridetobe166:  I agree with hp520:  about trying your dress on again.

Try not to care about what other people think. I love my dress even though most of my friends preferred another dress on me, and my mother hates the dress*. I know what I like: lace & bling. I’m sure you chose your dress for a reason, it was very unique to you. I’m sure if you try it on again, you’ll fall in love with it. Take some pictures if you haven’t already, so that you’ll remember how great it looks on you.

*She dislikes fit and flare or anything “mermaid”-like. She just wants me in a poofy ballgown and long sleeves. I’m 4’10″…poofy ballgown and long sleeves for my summer wedding is not happening!

bridetobe166:

I went to your post showing the halter dress, and I think you made the right choice.  You look great in it!  I know what you mean about worrying that your fiance won’t love your dress.  I told my fiance that I was upset about my dress and he just said “whatever.”  I told him that he was suppose to say “You’ll look beautiful no matter what,” and is response was “whatever” lol.

Was there a certain way you wanted your hair to be before you decided on the dress?  I feel like I have to change the way I’m going to do my hair because of the dress I chose.  I wanted my hair all down, but I feel like it may look better with my hair at least half up, which I’m a little disappointed in because I really wanted my hair to be down.

Even though you’ve tried on the dress 5 times, maybe go back again with your hair and makeup done to see if you an envision it a little more of what you would look like on your wedding day

I don’t know if you’ll find this helpful but I’ve been struggling with dress regret since the day I purchased my dress. It’s been one reason why, I get over that, then a new reason why I’m not happy with it comes up. It’s been a ridiculous inner battle. Currently, I’m just telling myself there’s no way in hell I’m getting a new one and I’m just going to fake it till I make it. Squash all those doubts and tell myself it’s prefect until I believe it.

So far so good..I realize this method may not be for everyone though.

Honestly… I only felt better after buying another dress. This might not be feasible for you- my original dress was only 180 dollars. I realized it wasn’t the one by bawling my eyes out at 4 am the next morning (DRAMA QUEEN!). I bought my new dress and haven’t changed my mind since. I honestly think the best thing to do is try on EVERY type of dress before buying so that when you stumble upon other dresses, you can think about WHY that type or colour or style of dress didn’t work for you and you will still be happy with your choice.

bridetobe166:  I stopped looking at the photos on my phone, they never do the dress justice! What really helped me was to focus on the feeling it gave me when I tried it on and why I decided to go for it in the first place. There’s so many gorgeous dresses and a lot of pressure to find “the one”, don’t let that get to you amidst all of the stress that comes with planning a wedding. Just let go and enjoy and you’ll look/feel amazing 🙂

I bought another dress & sold the first on preownedweddingdresses.com for a loss.
