Our 6 month old puppy has a bad digging habit.
She doesn’t just dig small holes, they’re huge! It looks like she’s trying to dig her way to China (lol!).
And she does it in a short amount of time. It’s not like we let her outside for long time.
She gets in trouble when we catch her or show her the holes afterwards. We’ll usualy just say “LOLA WHAT DID YOU DO, THAT’S BAD” and she knows right away. We don’t hit her at all.
If she’s outside for 5 minutes on her own and we go outside, she drops to the ground cowering because she knows shes going to be in trouble. So it’s not like she’s stupid…
Anyone have any experience with this? How to fix it?
She’s a puggle – half pug and half beagle. I think the digging comes from the beagle?

@Sunshine23: I did it by filling the holes that she dug with gravel which is harder for them to dig. After I did that a few times…she gave up =)
On a side note…your dog is ridiculously cute

@JamaicaBride: Thanks! She always digs holes in different places. So even if I filled them up with gravel, she’d dig more and more…

How does she feel about water? My parents pointer did this, and to fix it my mom hid out of sight (behind the fence) when my dad put her in the yard, and would blast her with the hose (through the slats of the fence) whenever she started digging … They did this a dozen or more times over the course of a month, and it worked pretty well …

She LOVES water but when we spray her with a hose, she isn’t too fond of it so that might work.
