JazzyGirl85: I find that curling my hair without heat works the best. I’ve got really thick hair that won’t hold a curl worth crap if the curl is made with heat (flat iron, curling rod, or blow-dry twist thingy). The only thing I’ve found that works for my hair & stays well (at least a day, sometimes two) are the old-school rollers- not the hot rollers, just the straight up grandma rollers. I put them in when my hair is a slighty damp (I also put in some curl setting gel & hair softener) and sleep in them to dry the hair, wakeup & remove them- do not brush ever….

I had this problem..until I bought a curling wand. I have the remington pearl its from target or walmart and less than $30. No matter how much I used a curling iron it just would not hold my curl but the curling wand keeps my curls for days. I wash my hair and don’t put any product in it and I don’t even put hairspray and it still holds.

I have thin hair that doesn’t hold anything — until now. I have a proliss styling/curing wand, and it’s amazing. Blows curling irons CLEAR out of the water. My hair stays curly, and even if it does fall, it’s still really pretty and wavy at the least. Seriously, go pick up a styling wand, it will save your life.

Use a curling wand. pin your curls back up to cool right after you do each curl. When you’ve got all your hair pinned. Spray with hairspray. Let it cool. I wait 29-30 minutes to be safe, then let the curls down. It will be really kinky at first, but comb your fingers through lightly, and it will loosen up throughout the day.

JazzyGirl85: Mine only has one size. You really only need one size to start. The way you wrap your hair is what determines how big or small your curls will be. 🙂

My hair is straight and pretty flat, this is what I do:

– volumizing mousse while my hair is damp (I like oscar blandi or aquage)

– blowdry upside down

– spray in heat protectant that also has some hold (I’m using Not Your Mothers at the moment)

– curl with curling wand away from the face, with the point of the wand facing down

– hairspray after each side is completed (I use Kenra 25 which I highly recommend)

If I want more waves instead of curls, after I do the above I twist each side of my hair into Princess Leia type buns on each side of my head, spray with hair spray and let sit for 10-20 minutes.

Westwood: I use Aquage, too (and blowdry upside down). Just started using it about a month ago. I don’t know where it’s been my whole life!! My hair looks so much better. I’ve recently started using a heat protectant, too (silly me should’ve been doing it the whole time.)

What do you like about Kenra 25?

StephieBee: I love the Kenra hairspray. It doesn’t make my hair gunky, holds really well and my hair still moves even after spraying in quite a bit. It’s definitely my favorite hairspray. I think it’s won a bunch of style award type things too.

JazzyGirl85: If I curl my hair dirty, it falls instantly. I have to have fresh washed and dry hair to curl it. I do not ever put any product in my hair not even hairspray and if I let it my curls stay for three day, that third day I use dry shampoo. I can brush it, run my fingers through it, whatever I want and it bounces right back.

I use my straightner to curl my hair. I have a one inch chi straightner that I put to the highest temperature. Here is a picture of my hair curled and this is curls from day two not right after I curled it.

JazzyGirl85: When my hair was not this long i used clip in extensions and i just curled them before i put them in my hair. I held the clip between my lips to keep the hair taut and then i curled them
