My wedding day was hands down the best day of my life, but I am very disappointed with my makeup. It was supposed to be Mad Men-ish. I didn’t even realize it at the time because my nerves were that bad!!!
I know no one can convince that it looked nice, and you probably won’t even try, but I can’t shake it. Help me look past it bees!!!

I can certainly understand being disappointed that a specific wedding vision doesn’t come to fruition exactly as pictured – trust me, nothing anyone could or will ever say about my wedding dress will ever make it ok in my eyes that I didn’t look like a big giant cupcake.
But FWIW, you look absolutely gorgeous, your makeup and hair look perfect and your dress and jewelry are to die for. You are rocking your look.

Honestly, I think it looks beautiful. I haven’t seen Mad Men & I don’t know what you look like day-to-day, but, as an outsider, I think you look great.
I know it’s hard, but you need to move on. I did my own make up, and I already have so many regrets! (For instance, I didn’t know how to cover my under eye bags then, and have since learned, I wish I had done it right for the wedding. I also don’t like the shade I picked for my lips!). I try to remember how happy I am & how lovely everything else was and not worry about the details.
Congratulations on your marriage!

Stop over-thinking it…you look great!!! It may not be the image in your head, but it looks great nonetheless. Be easy on yourself. You were a beautiful bride. 🙂

@Bellagiobride: It looks great. And I’m still in love with your necklace (where is it from?)

Are you sure you’re not fishing for compliments? You looked beautiful!

I think your make up looks very much in the style of mad men. For reference
Heres a classic Betty
a classic Joan
and a classic Peggy
The era (before you get into the hippy/swinging 60’s style with wild colours) is punctuated by natural looking make up with red lips and shimmery eyes. Everything that your make up artist appears to have achieved.

Your makeup does not define your wedding day. You just said it was the best day of your life. Write down WHY you feel that way, and whenever you feel upset over make up, go to that list so you can always realize how trivial make up actually is in comparison.

I was really dissapointed with my hair… after multiple attempts, we never did get it how I wanted it. I still think back, and wish I had found more time to get another hairstylist or find another style or something.
But in the end, so many things went RIGHT that the hair thing was no big deal. The less you focus on it, the more you’ll begin to forget that it wasn’t perfect to begin with. You’ve already admitted youre obsessing, and the number one thing you can do is QUIT OBSESSING. Thinking about that one thing over and over again throws the entire thing out of context. You did everything you could and it all turned out beautifully. Pat yourself on the back for putting together everything you did, and be proud of the way things turned out.
Personally, I think your makeup is very Mad Men. And even if it wasn’t 100% what you wanted, it was still 100% pretty!

You Bees are so right. I am focusing on the wrong thing. I actually told my Darling Husband how I felt, which I am never usually insecure, so he was surprised at how I was feeling. It is just that this day, I wanted everything to be perfect. He reminded me of how beautiful I was that day, and I do recall on that wonderful day that he told me that he could not stop staring at me. He thought I was beautiful, and I felt beautiful until I started analyzing the pics. I am done Bees, you’ll not here anything from me on this subject again. Thanks for the reality check 🙂
@bunnyharriet: LOL, Not fishing. I didn’t even post these in my recaps because I didn’t like how I looked in them, even though I love, love the view in them 🙂

If you truly hate it, get some black and whites printed from your photos. You could even add whatever color you want. Honestly, you are one fo those rare people blesses w that perfect almond ahped eye, so your makeup is almost just extra when you have those kind of genes on your side 🙂

Yeah how is that cat eye and red lips not like mad men? I must be missing something. It looks great!
