    Hi girlies!

We all have those really poopy waiting days where you get very frustrated and impatient, and perhaps we tend to get a little snappy.  But then you realize that by staying busy and doing things you enjoy, it can really help you refocus your attention and put you in a better mood.

I want to know the following TWO things: what do you love to do to keep you happy and busy, and what hobbies would you like to pick up to help ease the frustration of waiting?  I hope this ends up being a great idea thread for suggestions so you ladies can pick up and try a few new things!  I'll start:

    Things I've Been Doing:

    1. TWB (of course) -- but instead of creating new threads all the time about my relationship and my frustrations of waiting, I post on other waiting bees' threads for some light on the situation they're in.  You ladies are why a lot of us STAY here on TWB!  Remember to always leave your mind and heart open to your fellow bees!

    2. Job hunting -- it's extremely unexciting, but remembering that my contribution will help Mr. Beary's future with me go more smoothly makes the looking less boring.

    3. Gathering recipes -- I was never one to cook, I just never took to it.  My mother was a WONDERFUL cook, and ever since I knew I wanted to marry my SO, this weird instinct to want to cook has been kickin' in!  I've been browsing for breakfast, dinner, dessert, and snack recipes.

    4. Playing video games -- I am such a nerd!  But leveling up sure does make the time go by. . .

    5. Cleaning house -- Mr. Beary likes coming home to freshly changed sheets and a nice candle burning.  Who doesn't?!

    6. House decoration shopping -- ohhh what I'd do with a good fistful of money and a shopping spree to Bed, Bath & Beyond!

    7. Watching We T.V. for their Sunday wedding marathons!

Things I'd Like to Pick Up:

    1. More reading! -- I adore reading, and I've got a Kindle with some good books on it.  I heard "The Hunger Games" is a wonderful series.  I'm open to any and all suggestions!

    2. Journal writing -- I think that a lot of my waiting frustrations come from not being able to talk to a woman who I am close to whenever I need.  I left my mother and best friend behind when I moved a state away with my SO.

    3. Drawing and painting -- I would like to improve my technique!  Perhaps I'll ask for an art set instead of an e-ring for my upcoming birthday.  Gah, I know!  I'm TRYING my hardest to not concentrate on the e-ring stuff!  (We're unofficially officially engaged, so the waiting seems like it just drags on for. ev. er.)  Hmm, pastels would be fun. . .

    4. MORE SPA DAYS! -- nails, hair, facials.  Sounds like a plan to me. : )

I agree - regardless of waiting or not, we should always work on ourselves and aim to keep ourselves happy and busy! I never want my happiness tied up in JUST a relationship or hinging on a wedding.

Things I do to keep busy:
The gym! I have never been very fit... so I am working on improving my fitness. Which also means good happy endorphins!

Things I'd like to pick up:
I am doing a 30 by 30 list at the moment so I have a bunch of goals: reading 15 books in a year, spa days, mastering homemade pasta, rock climbing and a bunch of fun activities with friends.

    What I've been doing:

THE GYM!! I just pretend like we will be having the wedding at the end of next year, and it makes me get off my lazy ass and actually GO to the gym!

I got my nails done yesterday!

Good idea on the drawing/painting! I used to do this as a hobby and I miss it!!

What I would like to do:

    Take a floral arranging class!

    run a half marathon!

lose my goal amoung of weight by Jan 1st (SO has promised to buy me a pair of Louboutins and a matching dress if I stick to my goals!)

I agree got to keep happy and busy.  For me it is the following.

Work-while I'm not sure this always makes me happy.  It certainly keeps me busy!

Helping BFF plan her wedding (I think she's down to like 30 days or so) this is fun but is a little hard at the same time.  The wedding shower I'm giving her is this weekend and I've had fun planning that.

Doing some of my own wedding planning - nothing official just gathering some ideas.

Spening plenty of time with SO - we don't live together so we make sure to plan several date nights per week.

Church activities - this always keeps me busy and makes me happy.

Things I'd like to do more of

    Reading

Losing the last 20 lbs that's been hanging on

    That was fun thanks guys!

What I'm doing to keep busy:

    • I'm substitute teacher and I can choose how many jobs I take. Last year I worked usually 2-3 times a week. This year I'm planning on taking more jobs, even though it's even harder than last year because my master's courses get over late at night and I have a long drive... so I'm exhausted. But it keeps my mind more off of things and it keeps me busy!
    • Foodgawker and Pinterest are my new internet loves. :)
    • My master's classes... I'm just putting the extra effort in and being an over- achiever.
    • Good willing!  I love finding terrible home decor items and refinishing them into something beautiful.

@katiebeary - The Hunger Games are WONDERFUL!!!! I read all three in about a week! I couldn't put them down!

    My waiting activities so far:

I've taken up knitting. For a while I was just knitting randomly, then my aunt announced that she is pregnant so I am working on a few things for the new baby now.

Reading. I've always read a lot but now I'm going through about a book a week. It's nice to just turn off the tv and enjoy the silence.

The activities I'm planning to start in the next week:

Lose 20 lbs. I'm joining a gym tomorrow.

Get back into yoga. I took a few classes in college and really enjoyed it. I found a class near my house that I'm hoping to join once a week!

    1. Shopping
    2. Exercising
    3. Occasionally looking at wedding stuff...but try not to because when I start planning I get excited. I think I have my dressed picked though. Based off an online pic. I can't wait to dress shop and try on the one I've fell in love with.
    4. Just everyday hustle and bustle...I have a very busy life so there isn't much down time
    5. Football!!! I love sports and so happy it's football season now.
    6. And my reality t.v shows...haha

Thank god it's the Autumn time, and Hallowe'en is coming up! Because I just finished creating a black feather and black rose wreath for Hallowe'en. I love doing crafty stuff like this around Hallowe'en. It's my favorite time of year and I'll be keeping myself occupied with autumn decorating and Hallowe'en fun!!

I'm not a waiting bee, so please don't take this as a terribly rude comment. My advice would be stop thinking about getting engaged! Get off this website! There was one day a few months before I got engaged that I THOUGHT he was going to propose, and I went wedding crazy in my mind -- looking at the websites, making a guest list, etc. Then he didn't propose. I was bummed. And then I promptly forgot about it and unbookmarked all those wedding websites -- and I was much happier!

Seriously, obsessing over when the proposal will come won't make it come any faster. In fact, he might feel pressured, or you might not be your 100% awesome self, which might affect your relationship. Just do your thing and come back to this website once you're happily engaged :)

@likelimeade: I appreciate that you were honest with your response. : )  I keep myself busy, but I do stay on the forums to keep in contact with these ladies.  I like to browse other boards than waiting, or even marriage-related posts.  I think TWB in small doses here and there can be healthy, but keeping busy is 110% how to make yourself happy and not go overboard.  I've been so busy with job applications that when I did have a break, I was like, "YEAH!  Hop on TWB and see what the girlies are up to."  I feel it's all about self-control.  I'm one of the ones who haven't looked at dresses, venues, etc., etc. and I am "unofficially engaged."  It'll come when it comes as far as I am concerned. :P

The GYM! - It helps me feel better about myself, especially on days that I'm feeling 'not-so-great' about my wait

Shopping - I admit, it's not the greatest thing for my wallet, but boy does it keep my mind off the wait!  Besides, if I can't have a pretty 'sparkly' on my hand, I like to buy myself other things to make myself feel pretty and special

Reading!- I have a few favorite novels, and I also love to read magazines now.  I've never been one to be up on all the latest celebrity gossip and things going on in fashion and such, but since my 'waiting' began I am now a human encyclopedia of useless pop-culture knowledge!

the Sims 2 - I know it's completely lame, but in addition to all the other activities within the game, I also like to play 'matchmaker' with my Sims and get THEM married, since I can't! Wink

      Zynga Poker - I'm addicted!

Beading and jewelry making - This is one I haven't actually started yet, but I used to do it all the time and loved it!

Concerts and shows - love music!
