They will probably want to snug up the elastic belt on the inside 🙂

A good fit is key, but my seamstress put Velcro to attach my dress to my longline bra and I think that helped. It also made sure the dress didn’t spin at all.

Double-sided garment tape is worth its weight in gold. It won’t “hold the dress up” if the dress has no structure (see boning, fit, stays…), but it does wonders keeping the dress from migrating as you wear it when applied at the top (front and back).

I suggest practicing to make sure you know where to place it. If it’s in the wrong spot, the fabric won’t sit properly, and it will look weird (see: the fabric on the inside of Jessica Chastain’s breasts at the Golden Globes).

@sheepandbear:  pretty dress.  once your dress is properly altered to fit your body you should not have the problem of it falling down.  if you would feel more comfortable ask the seamstress for and internal closure as well.

@sheepandbear:  Ohhh ok gotcha!  You should have multiple fittings.  I would do a final fitting a week before the wedding.  Since you will have previous fittings, if something does need to be adjusted it should not be a big projecy for the seamstress.  I have a mermaid dress so I guess I wont be having that problem.  Make sure the dress is tight at your waist area and it should not fall down.

@sheepandbear:  yes, that is a longline bra. My seamstress suggested a local lingerie store where I got one for a great price.  She put the Velcro along the bust. If it were somewhere else, it would’ve probably been too hard to line up and attach.

@mrsSonthebeach:  I had one dress store consultant recommend having the longline sewn into the dress, but the velcro idea seems pretty smart too!
