Hoping for some advice and ideas about what other people did.  We have a very uneven wedding party.  3 groomsmen (or maybe 4... waiting for the army to tell us if he can have leave) and 6 bridesmaids.  FH is 5'11, so is his best man, and one groomsman is 6'0, and then little bro groomsman is probably 5'0. Army groomsman is 5'7.

I am 5'1" and my shoes are 2.5".  My MOH is 5'10 and will be in low heels.  My 5 other maids are 5'0, 5'3, 2 are 5'9, and one is 5'8.  All 3 of the tall BMs are wearing big heels (3"+).  So there will be 2 super short bridesmaids mixed in with 4 super tall ones, and a very short bride.

I definitely want the MOH right next to me, and she is the tallest of the maids.

What order should I have everyone stand in?   I feel like we should have everyone in descending height order... that it will look best for pictures.  Ideas?  Thoughts?  I am getting worried about how short I will look with all the tall people the closest to me, but I've got to remember that a) I have no control over my height and b) my fiance says I'm "not short, just compact hotness"

Haha, we're in the same situation but on the guy's side.  I'm 5'0" but FI is 6'4" How to line up very tall and very short bridesmaids? : wedding Icon Eek so I look super small regardless.  My maids are 5'2" (MOH), 5'4", 5'7", and 5'9" so I think it makes sense to have us stand in that order anyways.

GMs are 5'6" (best man), 6'0", 5'11" and 5'8" so I think that besides the best man, they'll be in descending height order.  We might swap the last 2 so my tallest maid isn't towering over the GM in heels, but don't think it'll be that noticeable.

For pictures, though, we're going for arrangements where we're either not all standing on the same thing, or some people are sitting, etc.  I like the variation in the pics anyways and then I'm not worrying so much about placement either.

Do you have steps or something where you could have the shortest maids on steps above the taller maids (but after the MOH)?  maybe that would help even things out...  Let us know what you end up deciding!

I did tallest to shortest, not including the MOH or Best Man.  On my side was my MOH who is about 5'7, BM 5'10, BM 5'7, BM 5'1 and Junior BM 4'something :)  On my DH side was Best Man who is about 5'11, GM 6'2, GM 6'1, GM 6', GM 5'8.  His side was ALOT more even than mine but looking at the pictures you really cant even tell.

My friend is getting married that is 5'1 and I am 5'7...we are wearing 3in heels so I will still be super tall next to her.  I think Im going to kneel in pictures :)

Maybe your photographer will have ideas on the best way to situate your attendants in photos? I have gone to a few weddings lately where I have looked to see if the height differences really mattered, and it never seemed awkward to me. But then again, when you are the bride you want everything to be perfect. If your reception site has stairs, that would help. If you are really concerned, it would not be atypical to put them in order of height.

What I've heard is that the MOH stands next to the bride, and then the bridesmaids stand in descending order of height. So I think that would be fine. =) I think that having bridesmaids stand in order of importance is somewhat hurtful, so I like the height idea.
