- Wedding: October 2011
I am having a marquee wedding and an outdoor ceremony on my property but that doesnt mean I want it to be a jeans and t-shirt bbq feel. Many of my friends dont often dress up but I want this to be special.
I was talking about it with some members of the bridal party and one of them told me quite forcefully that it was not ok to ask your guests to dress formally if I was having an outdoor ceremony. I said I wasnt expecting everyone to be in couture ball gowns but I would prefer it if people didnt come in jeans and sneakers. She went on to say that some people don’t have anything nice to wear, I said surely everyone would own a pair of pants and a clean shirt? (now come on really)
As Im writing this Im thinking Im probably making too big a deal out of it all, most guests would know that you dress nicely for a wedding surely? What are other bees doing on the invites? Have you specified dress? Is there a way of saying ‘trousers and shirts not jeans and tee’s please’?
