Even if you get on birth control, there is no sure fire way to not get your period on your wedding day. The best thing to do is plan around your cycle.

I have skipped periods using brith control but if you want to do this, you need to start now to avoid breakthrough bleeding.  It’s possible that when you skip the inactive pills, that you can bleed as much as a period or not at all.

I would probably not mess with BC though if you are planning on TTC right after the wedding.

I would talk to your doctor. My mom mentioned not wanting to have hers on a vacation and she talked to her doctor and they worked out how to best manipulate it. The doctor mentioned that my mom could be at risk for getting a blood clot though so she wanted to watch my mom when she got back. – – It just might be good to check they safest way.

I don’t like screwing around with my hormones last minute so I wouldn’t try this. Try the divacup – at least you’ll go 12 hours without worry.

I have had Mirena for 5 years now.  It is actually due to be replaced in September, but I am getting it replaced in August to avoid any possibility of bleeding on the Wedding Day during the adjustment period.  I didn’t have any problems with it when I got it 5 years ago.  I think I just spotted for a day or so and then I haven’t really had a period since.

I love it, have never had any bad side effects, have never gotten pregnant while using it and I REALLY ENJOY not having a period to worry about ever.  It’s worth looking into, it might affect you differently, though.  You should talk to your doctor for suggestions.

@aubrav: If she’s trying to conceive right after the wedding, I don’t think Mirena would be an option for her…

I would skip the “sugar” pills this month so that by next month you just wont have your period at that time. Ive moved my period around twice like this (for vacation reasons) and it kinda messed me up. I was bloated and I could tell my body was a bit confused that month.  Like I said, I’d try to push you period back this month so you feel regular next month around the wedding.  There are also things you can do about the bloating.  Sent me a message if you need more advice.

@MrsJVP: That doesn’t always work on taking the BC pills. Sometimes you’ll have break thru in the middle and still get your period at the normal time. Plus it can make you feel really crappy. Maybe you could take a few of the sugar pills and then start your new pack partially into your period (so that you get it but it’s shorter – and then it’ll make your next one earlier).

Sorry, I missed the trying to conceive part, still trying to figure out what half of the initials are.  Now I know TTC= trying to conceive.  Thanks!

That stinks! The only thing I would be worried about is messing around with your hormones so close to the wedding? There’s always the risk of gaining weight, changes in your skin, etc… I would just keep this in mind when talking with your doctor about your options.

Hope it all works out for you!!
