Those are good ideas...a bellyband (we used that with our monogram on the outside)...pockets or ribbon...try them all and see which one you like the best!
I had the same set-up and I used a wide ribbon to hold it all together. It was super cheap and easy to do. I bought the ribbon on sale for 50% off a roll! I used hot glue to keep them together in the back

i'm DIYing my invitations and now wondering how i package it all together. i have a 5x7 flat card invitation, 3x4 map card, and 3x4 reply postcard. is it okay to throw them all in the envelope? or would it be better to package them in a ribbon or belly band?
