I’m finally insured, as my probation period at work is up (yay!) I went onto the insurance company site to find a doctor, and even with narrowing my search to female family practioner specialists, there’s 145 doctors within 5 miles of me.
So, how do I possibly start to pick a doctor besides just looking at someone and thinking hey, they have a nice name?
Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙂

Starting with asking friends who they see and like is always a good starting point. Other things to think about — if you are planning on having kids, do they do OB? What are the hours of their clinic (some are open on weekends, most aren’t)? What hospital are they affiliated with (how well regarded is that hospital? how well regarded is the clinic?) What services are located in their clinic–do they have a lab? Radiology? or would you have to go elsewhere for those services? How many docs are in their practice (increased # means you are more likely to be able to get a quick appointment when something comes up).
Many clinics have profile pages on their doctors…read those and see if their philosphy sounds good to you. After that, you can set up a “meet and greet” appointment and see if you like them!

Those are all great questions to ask. Thank you! I’ll continue my search 🙂
