I’ve asked my girls to pick their own bridesmaid dresses. I told them I want floor length & black. Those are my only stipulations. When I found my wedding gown, Future Sister-In-Law and I saw two amazing lace dresses in the salon. I can’t find one of them, but I think this is the other one…
Fast forward a couple of months, and we’re trying to get all of my maids together to go shopping. I asked Future Sister-In-Law if she wanted to look at the dresses we saw at the salon, but she said they don’t go with my dress.
I realized I don’t know what would go with my dress. How do you know what goes?
I’m wearing cosette by Maggie Sottero. It’s a tulle ball gown with black lace.
I thought the above dress or something similar would look amazing. I’m so confused!

@MoodyFoodie: Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses don’t need to “go” with your dress. I LOVE that Bridesmaid or Best Man dress! My only concern would be it looks expensive – can your BMs afford it?

I’m giving them $200 towards it. They’ve agreed to pay $175 above that. I sure hope that dress isn’t too much!

I’m wearing an all lace gown and my consultant talked me out of bridesmaids dresses made out of lace. She said that it would take away from my dress. We had all my bridesmaids try some on with lace next to my wedding dress and she was totally right! Since your dress is made out of delicate looking materials I’d go with chiffon

So this is your dress?
I get the thing about not haing lace Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses with lace bride dresses, but you don’t have that much lace on your dress and it is black, so I don’t think the same rules apply.
The main thing I would be looking for is that the lace pattern is similar on the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses to yours – and I think it is.
I think the dresses would look really good together. My only concern is that the sleeved dress might be a bit hot to wear especially after a bit of dancing. I’d prefer it if it were just one-shoulder.

What about these ones by Sophia Tolli – but in black with white/ivory details? I think it would be cool to have a subtle reference to the lace on the bride’s dress, but in reverse (white on black).

@clairebbbear: Great suggestions! I’ll pass them along to my maids. I’ve seen a few dresses that are similar to the first one I posted that are strapless or one shoulder. I have one maid who is VERY modest and is requesting sleeves. She’ll probably fry in Texas heat, but she will not show her body, dag-nabbit. Haha.
Thanks, y’all. As always, you’ve been so helpful!

@MoodyFoodie: You could always get the girl who wants sleeves to wear a bolero? Might be easier than finding a suitable dress with sleeves, as there aren’t many.
Or the girls could wear different dresses. Since I assume they will all be wearing black it would be easy to match them, especially if you decide on the same fabric for all of them.
Like, if you get dresses from the Dessy group (Dessy/Alfred Sung/After Six/Leila Rose) I believe all their fabrics and colours are the same across the range, so it’s easy to match them.
(are these enough of sleeves?)

You could also add a white flower belt to match yours, they’d be easy enough to get from Etsy etc.
