II’ve have a mermaid dress with a mermaid slip for underneath. David’s bridal said I have to dive into the dressversus stepping into it due to the slip will come up if I step into it. If I dive in it, I will have to put my dress on before hair and make up and have my dress potentially get dirty from hairspray and make up and have to wear the huge and heavy thing for that much longer. Is there a way I can step into a mermaid with a slip on??? Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
Also, I want the “stepping in” pictures!! Help, my wedding is Saturday!

@futuremrsbc: you can step In but you will need a bridesmaid to go under the dress before you zip it and probably after to pull down on every layer including the slip to make sure there are no folds etc
put the slip inside the dress before you put it on, then just step into both, zip the slip and have someone straighten it all out, then do the dress up and straighten again 🙂

I have a fit and flare, so almost the same. I prefer stepping into it also – anytime I’ve tried it on or at alterations, I take my hoop skirt crinoline and pull it up through the bottom of the dress. Then I step into both at the same time. My crinoline has an elastic waist/hip area so that makes it easy to pull up and into place before I pull the dress up. Can you do that?

When I tried on my mermaid dress I stepped into it. When I said I would like it to be poufier on the bottom they brought out a mermaid slip and the consultant went under my dress and helped me pull it up. Basically I lifted up the wedding gown and then stepped into the slip and she slid it up. With your maids, MOB, MOG, Grandmothers, Aunts, Cousins I’m sure you’ll do fine stepping into the gown first and then having someone help you slide the slip on after.
Another option would be to put it all on before hair and make-up and wear a long robe to keep the dress clean.
OR do hair and make up with your slip on and when you go to put on your dress have whomever help you “dive” into your dress by standing on chairs and ease you into the dress being careful of hair/make-up.
