Hi there, if you mean a petticoat, the correct way to store it is in the original packaging and folded. The layers of net will easily 'poof' out on the day to create extra volume or you can just take it out and hang it the night before. The reason why it's supposed to be kept flat is because if theres a hoop in it and its hung for long periods of time the hoop with eventually flatten and you'll lose the lovely round shape.
ps - I used to run a bridal petticoat business in England so hope that helps! :)
I fold and laid mine in my old room at my parents house. I plan to unfold it the night before the wedding.
@Rustysgirl: Petticoat, crinoline...I think we're talking about the same thing. However, there's not actually a hoop in it. It just has the stiff netting. I don't want it to lose its fluff.
@trugem: Thanks! I guess I don't have a ton of places to lay it out, especially for 9+ months. But I'm not sure if it's okay in it's box. I'm thinking no, haha.
i was wondering the same thing! thanks for the posting!
I am just leaving mine folded in it's original packaging. I am sure it will be fine. I do plan to take it out though and practice walking in it with my shoes up and down the stairs, so I don't fall on our wedding day.
@FinallyGettingMarried: Yay I'm not the only one. :)
@noritake22: Haha, what a good plan.
I guess I should open up my box and see how it's even stored in there! The box is still sealed from delivery. :)
Oh yay for this thread I asked this question a while ago and got no response. I was wondering the same thing since I got excited and bought mine too soon. I just folded it and put it bag in the bag it came in. But I hung the bag up in my closet. That shouldnt affect it I hope.
@bells: If the bag is hanging, I think that's fine. If it's the crinoline itself hanging, it will weigh itself down, which is counter-productive to the reason we bought them...the poof! :)
@Gemstone: Its a duffel bag and one of the straps of the bag is hanging but the crinoline itself is safe.. oh how I worry about it!! I think I should have waited and bought it closer to the date but I really got excited and couldnt leave it in the store! lol
@bells: That sounds like a really good idea! And yeah, I'm there with you. Without thinking, I ordered my crinoline the same day I ordered my dress...more than a year before the wedding. The crinoline arrived three weeks later. Hah.

Hiya hive. I know I've mentioned before that my dress is taking up to 12 months to come in (torture!), however, I did receive my crinoline from the dress shop.
Now the question is, how do I store this thing for the next nine months?
I know that the crinoline is not supposed to be hung on a hanger, as the weight of it will cause it to lose its "poof." But right now, it's still just in the big box in which it was shipped to me, and I figure that can't be good for it either.
So, how do you store a crinoline?
