@southernbride14:  You are right to keep it laying down.  I can’t believe no one has a box for you!!  Can you take a refridgerator box from a friend or store near you?

Mine isn’t as heavy as yours but has an insanely long train like yours. Honestly, I haven’t even taken out the bustle from the reception yet, and I have it stuffed in the dress bag and hanging up in one of guest rooms. It seriously takes up half the closet and I don’t know why else to do with it. My husband wants me to keep it, so I’m interested to see what advice you get.

It looks like a beautiful dress!!! If you are going to keep it, maybe contact the designer and ask what they suggest?

That dress is gorgeous!! Wow 70 pounds – you must have gotten a work out on your wedding day!

Unfortunately, I don’t have any practical, inexpensive advice for you…  but maybe you could frame it–this looks amazing:

lol I’d love to do this if I could figure it out/find someone to pay for it =)

You probably should look into companies that supply museums and theatre companies:  think of opera costumes!

What do you plan to do with it except have it in a box in a closet? Honestly, i’d sell it rather than have something relatively useless taking up that much space. Or, i’d make it into a tapestry of some kind – that’s a lot of yardage!
