I would say it a bit mroe like the second way b/c it’s really clear that you’re not paying, just making a suggestion, and that no one is obligated to attend.

So be like, "In case some of you want a lunch suggestion, FI and I really love Indian Palace near the airport.  We’re thinking of popping in for their yummy $9.99 lunch buffet.  If you’re interested in joining let us know so we can give them a heads up if there are a lot of us.  Otherwise please see our list of local sites [assuming you have one], rest up, and we’ll see you at dinner."
