I’d mention something about the after party including drinks and dancing. You could just say “no children please” or “must be 21” or “of age” someting illuding to no kids. Depending on where it is. You said “after party” so i immediately thoguht party in a bar/club/adult venue.

Our invites read: “Adult Reception Immediately Following Ceremony”

Perhaps for this post-reception party you could word it:

“The celebration continues with/Please join us for an Adult Soiree with Hors D’Oeuvres, Dancing and Cocktails!”

Or

“Please join us for an Adult Cocktail Party following the Reception”

I feel like “cocktail party” connotates “adult”  – but if there are no cocktails being served, then just leave that out 🙂

I would suggest putting the “Adults only” in the corner. the “hors d’oeurves and cocktails for adults at…” makes me feel like there needs to be a “something for the kids at …. ” line

Oh i see. Yeah i’d just say “adult reception to follow” which is subtle but gets the point across. If somebody actually does bring their kid, well, awkward for them!

sounds good, you have the “adult” in it and that should be enough.  I was thinking “Adults only event,” but that sounds much better.

Shrug shoulders i’m not sure, but of course i’d probably put the cocktail on the invite and just not care about the conservative relatives lol!!! i am not that concerned about most in my family and my mom’s family is on the conservative child, but i’m a wild child 😀

Maybe it’s just me, but whenever I see “adult” used in this context it makes me think something unsavory is going on, like a “XXX adult bookstore” or something.  What about…

We invite our adult guests to join us at XYZ restaurant

to continue the celebration with hors d’œuvres and dancing
