Our wedding is at Disney. We sent Save the dates last month. Each month our invitees will receive correspondence from us. I have an almost complete newsletter that will be printed next week. July another one will go out a week-2 weeks before invitations in August. As we receive RSVPS in september another will go , and possibly one more in early october followed by one in their welcom packets.

The purpose of the newsletters is to keep our guests up to date with where to make travel arrangements, how to make them. To keep them up to date on the events in the works. We are also attempting to give them information that we love about the parks, and that may make their travel easier.

Probably not much help, we were extremely laid back about the whole DW thing, we wanted to keep it close family and friends only so we actually have a Facebook  page (Yes I know, Tacky to some, resourceful for others) It was used as a heads up, I guess you could say like a save the date. We also use it to send updates or changes. As for the invite, We didn’t do anything fancy, it was a black envelope, looked really formal but when opened it was all bright and colorful, there were seashells and startfish decorations. The wording itself was pretty simple.

FI Name

My Name

The big day

‘Nuff said.

date/time

beach

Resort name, MEXICO.

Then we just included a little slip, in a pocket next to the RSVP cards, that had Travel Agent details as well as Travel dates and resort contact. We also sent our invites out earlier than we should have, but that was on the advice of the travel agent. We sent them out, before the deposit due date and as it sits now we have 34 out of 70 confimed paid guests coming, so it really worked for our group of people.

jlc3:  We had passport invites so they were like little booklets. One page had a short daily itinerary page so people knew what days to travel. Another page had the actual formal invite. Another page was info about Cabo and things to do at the resort. And the final page was a thank you you blurb and something like we really want you to be there but understand if you can’t make the trip.

I can send you a pdf of our passport invite if you want. You can just PM me your email.  You don’t have to make it into a passport but I think DW invites need to be more detailed or have some other info along with it in the envelope

jlc3:  Also,  I did a STD a year out and the invites about 6 months out.  I included an online RSVP deadline of 2 months before the trip.  Almost no one RSVPd either way (rude) but we knew who was coming thanks to our travel agent.  We had a total of 30 people attend (we invited 63)

MrsUPS:  We aren’t sending welcome bags ahead of time. We are sending newsletters ahead of time :). Welcome bags will come with schedule and possibly a final newsletter in them.

MrsUPS:  The welcome bags will have goodies for our guests: water, snacks, wipes, chapstick, sunblock, aloe, etc. The welcome packet will be a folder with schedules, any necessary tickets for our events, and last minute tips/reminders.
