We have asked a very good friend to be our officiant, he would have otherwise been involved in our wedding party. He, of course, is not charging us but I’d obviously like to thank him somehow. We were thinking of paying for his hotel room, do you think that’s appropriate? Or do you have other suggestions? Thanks.

I think that’s a great idea!
Our officiant is one of FI’s best friends, and after wracking our brains for a great thank you gift to him (he lives in town and won’t need a hotel room) we realized nothing would make him happier than a bottle of good gin, so that’s what we’re getting him 😉

I think that would be a wonderful gift/payment! =D

I think that would be perfect.Nothing more needed.
Our officiant and her boyfriend (who acted as DOC for wedding setup and timing the ceremony) were from our town, so no hotels: instead, we gave them a gift certificate to one of the nicer restaurants in town that should cover them for an all out 3-course meal with cocktails…

Perfect, thanks! I can check that one off the list 🙂
