Our v-day was good, we ordered Olive Garden to go and rented The Girl on the Train from Redbox and ate/watched the movie in our PJ’s. He gave my a cute water bottle, some silky PJ’s and lush bath bombs with candy and I gave him a leather journal and a new swim suit for our upcoming vacation and candy too. FI and I are both dieting right now, so it was nice to have a cheat meal and not workout and just have a lazy night with yummy food.

It was good. Not a huge fan of V-Day (or any holiday that builds up a lot of expectations, to be honest). He took me to dinner and got me a cute sweater. I bought him a gift certificate from a company that does beer tours, which he loved. My love language is gift giving, while his is acts of service, so I’m coming to terms with the fact that he will never be the type to give me the more traditional jewelry or perfume. Oh well, at least he scrapes the frost off my car every morning.

DH does not like to celebrate valentines day, so we decided this year I wouldnt make a big deal of it and we could take “a year off” and then switch every year, compromise is key! lol, however, he asked me to go look in my car right after lunch time and he left me a beautiful bouquet of roses, I made steak lobster and shrimp and we drank one of the many bottles of champagne we had left over from our wedding. It was simple but perfect.

No offence of course to anyone who does celebrate it, but for us it’s the most useless holiday. Just another Tuesday for me.

We didn’t do gifts or anything, but we did spend the day trying to appreciate each other so things ended up being pretty mushy. :p We did go out and grab a pizza and some beer and then spent the night playing with the VR thingie SO got in the mail this week.

Our gift to eachother was a fire extinguisher! Because our love is so hot and fiery you may ask? No…because we almost burnt the house down cooking our Valentines dinner…We decided to stay in and cook this weekend instead of go out. I normally do the cooking and don’t normally have DH in the kitchen with me as it is rather small. He moved a bag of chips from the counter to the table to have more room and the candles had already been lit…turned around a bit later and the bag was engulfed. The fire alarm didn’t go off and we charred our table a bit, but no lasting damage. Dinner was fine and we realized that what we really needed most was a fire extinguisher since we had just moved into a new house. We will stick with dinner in front of the TV from now on!

We exchanged presents. I got 3 red roses and a purse. I gave him a nice tie. We had late reservations for dinner bec we knew he was gonna come home a bit later Valentine’s Day ahead but we made it on time. We had salad and steak for dinner and shared chocolate dipped strawberries for dessert.

We are on a budget due to our car breaking down. Plus we’re pretty simple people. I woke up to a rose petal path leading up to this. <3
After work we went on a date to the movies and watched Hidden Figures (such an amazing movie!) And then we went to the gym. (It was leg day)
And came home cooked for today and I wore a sexy bodysuit I had ordered just for yesterday from VS

I had told SO that we would not celebrate V-Day this year, because my mother has recently moved in with us. She has Dementia & her recent living arrangement was no longer working. He agreed and I was ok with it. We will be going to Las Vegas in a month & I told him we would have a special celebration there. He left early & told me he was going to get gifts for his mom & aunt. And came home with this…
He did an amazing job on such notice! I love all my gifts, especially the chocolate covered strawberries!!!

It was lovely! FI was already gone when I woke up ( 🙁 ) but he’d left roses and pastries from the bakery for me, and I sent chocolates to him work. In the afternoon, we went to the farmer’s market, and then made dinner together. We packed up the food, went to have a picnic at the park and got ice cream ( I know, in February! ) together, and then headed home to… well, you know.

Love everyone’s sweet stories! We had a low-key Valentines day. He took me to Lush and let me pick out tons of bath bombs and bubble bars. Then we stopped into the store and picked up steaks and veggies for dinner. Cooked together, listening to records, had a romantic bath, and watched a scary movie!
