How was your marriage proposal 🙂
How was your marriage proposal 🙂
He slid the ring across the table and asked me to marry him. Short, sweet and straight to the point. I was surprised and while we were out to eat, there was no crowd.
My DH actually got down on both knees when he asked me to marry him. 🙂 He proposed in a restaurant, and, although I knew he would be proposing shortly, the specifics of when, where, and how were a surprise.
ETA: I should note that we were in a long-distance relationship, and, as soon as he surprised me with a call that he was in town and wanted to take me to dinner, I knew that “this was it.”
He got down on one knee, proposed infront of his family (they knew) I was suprised. I was bummy in shorts. Wish I knew it was coming, would’ve dressed better, lol.
He coded a custom iPhone app that took me on a scavenger hunt to all the places our “first”s took place, and I had to complete an interactive puzzle and unlock a video message from him at each place. He was waiting on a picnic blanket with champagne and cheesecake at the final place, where he proposed!
He got down on one knee in front of my family and some friends on our anniversary. I knew we were going to get married in the future but there was no timeline, so I was genuinely surprised!
He got down on one knee on the spot we first met. I was surprised because I didn’t know when he was going to propose, but I knew it was coming because I knew he had the ring. It was private – I had requested that it be between just us years before.
We were in Portland, OR, on US Thanksgiving, and I took her to a rose garden (though it was November, so no flowers) and we had a picnic of cheeses and charcuterie, in a gazebo at the park, with a bottle of wine we bought on a holiday on Saltspring Island and had been saving for a special occasion. After we were done eating, I got down on one knee and asked her. Following the longest 20 seconds in recorded history, she said yes. I was certain she knew it was coming, but she had no idea and was taken completely by surprise.
The rest of the day, we walked around that area of town, and finished off with Thanksgiving dinner at Prost! Portland, who were offering it for FREE! There were six or more different kinds of turkey.
I knew he would be proposing sometime soon but was still surprised that day. I came home from signing some (totally bogus, made up by my dad to get me out of the house) POA papers to find a rose on the porch, then a trail of roses and sweet cards leading upstairs to my bedroom. On my bed was a dozen more roses, another card that said “Be ready by 6!” and a dress he picked out for me. At six (thirty…it took me longer to get ready ahah whoops!) he showed up and blindfolded me.
He then helped me to the car and we drove for what felt like eternity. The whole time he was playing love songs that had special meaning throughout our whole relationship. Finally, he stopped and helped me out of the car. When we stopped walking, he removed the blindfold. We were standing in the spot he had asked me to be his girlfriend nearly five years earlier and he was on one knee!! His brother (whom I didn’t notice until way after the proposal) was taking pictures/video.
I’d say he did an amazing job planning the proposal! There were people around because that spot was in a public shopping area, but there wasn’t a large crowd of people standing around either. People definitely saw, but it still felt like our own private moment!
it was at home, very private. he got on one knee. it was mostly a surprise, but I had been generally expecting it to happen sometime that year. the surprise was that it happened on an ordinary day, so I didn’t see it coming at the time.
We were on a mini vacation at a beautiful place on a lake with a gazebo. I love gazebos and kept asking to down to it. Finally we did, it had been rainy that whole day and it finally cleared up..and I saw a rainbow and it was so beautiful over the lake. I just started taking pictures. I had no idea..I turned around and he started saying all these sweet things, and he got down on his knee and out came the ring and the question. It was perfect. 🙂
@Vikstar: Yeah. And it was right before the formal dinner, so there were tons of people around cheering loudly as soon as they realized what was going on, lol. It was a pretty awesome proposal, haha. I had no idea that he was going to propose then, and when the photographer asked him to go down on one knee, I was so confused when he pulled a ring box out and started talking!
