Do you feel like you have a sense of who the other posters here are?
Do most people blend together or do you find that everyone has a different personality and style? I am just starting to have been here long enough to really recognize most of the other posters, but there are still so many that haven't made a complete impression on me yet. Looking forward to it, though!
After a while, one does seem to get a sense who different posters are.
Yeah, i think everyone kinda has their own personality and I know personally, for me, I relate better with those who are "waiting" like me.
So for me, I really look forward to seeing crebre, chaotic, mattell, corgi (now shes engaged yay) because they know what I am going through.
I love these boards though because it seems like everyone has something to contribute and I love reading other posts that dont relate to me right now, because hopefully soon they will :)
there are some I know; others I don't.
then there are some with whom I have running jokes and actualy blossoming friendships, haha, and I just hope we're not obnoxious.
There ARE a lot of people on here, and it's super overwhelming, at least at first. But after a while, you do start to notice people. Comment highlights actually really helped me with that at first, because the people who I started noticing earliest were those with their comments highlighted (i.e. more posts - often frequent posters as well).
Avatars help a TON too. I feel WAY more connected to a bee with an avatar than a bee who kept the little green Member logo (no offense meant!) just because there are so many out there, and an avatar is easier for me to spot than a name.
ETA: The more you post (esp. starting threads) the more you notice too. For instance, you, Jocelyn, have commented on just about everything related to bridesmaid dresses I've ever posted :) and I think you must have great taste in clothes!
@daydream, agreed. I definitely find people easier to spot/remember because of their avatars.
I agree. But I keep taking mine down for fear someone will recogize me (or my dog). I should pick a neutral one and get one back up there.
@Jocelyn; Just get a nuetral one like me. This is obviously not a picture of me or I'd be in Hollywood making bank and not sitting in a crappy cube bored to death!
I agree with the rest of you bees that the avatar is helpful in remembering posters....it's also confusing sometimes when members have similar avatar picks or names...for the most part though the more time you spend on the boards the easier it is to recognize people
Ha. I'm naive. I always thought that was you @hotchildinthecity and I've even seen you post pictures.
Once someone posts pictures I remember them a lot better and get a sense of their style. Unless they post a lot then just from what they say I kind of try to guess who's going to repsond how before I open up the thread and who the last poster was.
I agree with the avatar thing, and I have put off making one for myself forever. So I uploaded one finally!
@hotchild- i always thought that was you too lol, i was like damn shes hot. lol
@bvig: I've never posted a pic of myself on here. I'm all about being anonymous. My avatar is an horror actress that I bet no one knows about which is why it's perfect for an avatar!
been on here for about 2 weeks, and feel like i'm starting to get to know some bees!
@honeybear: LOL! I'll probably post pics after the wedding, but due to not exactly knowing who is on here, I try to keep it on the DL. hehe ;o)
I just changed my avatar last week... pretty nervous people would forget me lol!
I feel like people post on topics taht relate to them so I get a sense of who posts where. Like... I post any time a dog or pet is even REMOTELY mentioned, LoL!
Sorry, I'm not sure where I had gotten in my head I had a face with your name. Guess it's the wrong face.
There are def. several people that I can kind of sense their attitudes - funny, blunt, sarcastic, etc.
And I wish I could change my avatar, but I know that someone may recognize me by it at this point, so I haven't. Guess I'm stuck with it!
I wonder if people look at it closely enough to realize those are mine and my FI's faces, not Julia's and Richard's. LOL
@honeybun- i definitely recognize your avatar. its so original lol
I'm not sure if people know who I am but I definitely recognize a lot of names around here and look forward to quite a few bees' posts and responses. Sometimes how much I can be on here is hit and miss but if it's a slow work day than I'm on here for a while :)
@honeybun: I noticed! ^_^
@kjpugs: I'm pretty sure I won't forget the bee with all the awesome pug stuff. Btw, love your table numbers but forgot to say that in another thread.
I agree that it's easier to remember bees who have distinct avatars--I'm bad with names, so the visual aid really helps me remember who this poster is and maybe what her past posts have been about.
@honeybear: the site I did that on is called "face in hole" LOL Have you heard of it? When I discovered it, I was obsessed for a few days, and put my face on everyone from the wicked witch of the west, to Wonderwoman haha. Almost as addicting as Weddingbee!
@SpinningJenny Thanks!!!!!
@honeybun i LOVE your avatar... I just clicked your profile today since after I saw the valentine you made I was like, I hope she has a blog! LOL! You should make the valentine the avatar if you change it.
Aha! I also thought that was you, hotchild!! I was like daaaaaaayum, she's hot!
haha I'm not sure, I haven't heard of those! This one just has the image, with a hole cut out for the face. Then you just pick whatever picture of your own you want to use, and stick your face in the hole LOL
hahaha, maybe I should have kept my mouth shut and let everyone keep thinking that was me ;o)
@hotchildinthecity: I definitely thought that was you when I first joined, but I do remember seeing a comment from you somewhere pretty soon after that said it wasn't.
@kjpugs: Good call on the valentine as my avatar!!!! Somehow I don't think I ever would've even thought to do that.
@daydream...b/c of this topic, I went and added an avatar. I chose the Jamaican coat of arms...for obvious reasons =)
Eh, back to me. This one just suits me more. And knowing it is recognizable will keep me from using this site to vent too much.
I thought that was hotchild too in her avatar too! I feel so mislead! LOL I was thinking it was a pretty hot pic though!
@jocelyn: That's one reason I want to change mine to something anonymous! I've said some pretty not so nice things on here, that I would never want anyone that I know in real life to read. I have decided that at least from now on, I'm going to try to be better about that...just in case!!
i feel like I know a few people by name and some by their avatar. Its taken awhile, but there are definately people I look for when they post to see what they're asking or saying.
Honestly, before there were avatars, I could hardly keep anyone straight, so I stopped trying. The avatars really helped, although I've noticed that I now pay the most attention to just a few (those heavy posters that have been around for a while). I'm not as active here since I married, so I haven't been keeping the newer members straight very well. :(.
And I also used to have a different avatar that was a personal photo, but decided to change it up for something a little more generic a while ago. Thank you Simpson Movie website.
There are definitely a few people who I've come to recognize now (honeybun, laylabelle - heck, most of the people on this post!) Once you're on enough, people's stories start to form a mental picture of how they are in real life.
Yes, I feel like I know a few of the posters well. *Waving* Honeybear, Crebre,Waitingprincess, Bellenga and Corgi! I know a few others too! I love all you ladies!
Alright put an avatar up. The bee on the sunflower was a guest at the wedding - uninvited but welcome.
@ Hotchildinthe city - I always wondered it that was a picture of you! I guess not - now my image of you is shattered!
I agree that the avatars make you more recognizable - that's why I don't have one. Although I don't think I post enough for people to remember me, I think it helps to preserve my anonymity just a little bit more to someone who I might know in real life.
