How would you change my dress? : wedding alteration fitting dress rouching Sweetheart1I want to add a modified sweetheart to my dress. I'm thinking with the other details in the bodice, this might look too busy. However I really want the sweetheart.  I'm considering removing either the cross-rouching, or the lace applicay at the top and side of the dress.  Which would you change, if anything, to prevent the dress from being too busy?

I second mandb122! The dress looks good just as it is shown on the picture. It don't think it is too busy at all. Maybe you are referring to the cross-ruching as busy but I think the ruching makes it unique and helps with emphasizing your curves. The lace applique details on the top and side are sweet too. Makes the dress a little more romantic and feminine.

I don't think it's too busy with a sweetheart neckline.  Go for it!  Don't get rid of the other elements unless YOU don't like them.

I think that the dress is super pretty as is. but  I  agree with AClaire, don't get rid of elements unless you don't like them.

I appreciate the feedback! Keep it coming. I really value other's opinions at this point, because I've looked at my dress so much that I feel like I can't even properly see it anymore. I can see how removing the lace applique (so that's how you spell that word), would simplify the dress by making it one texture. But I also kind of like it. I'm torn. I just want to feel comfortable and not self-conscious about this on the day.

Is the sweetheart in the picture not actually on the dress?

I love the dress just the way it is in the pic! Beautiful!

Are you just adding a deeper sweetheart neckline? From the picture, it like it already has it!

I think the dress is beautiful - I wouldn't change anything!

I used paint to add a sweetheart in this pic...it's actually straight across.

Ah, I just noticed that it's photoshopped, haha. I think it would look great with a sweetheart, but I'd keep everything else!

I don't think a sweetheart neckline would make it look to busy at all.

I think it looks great as it is, with the sweetheart, lace and rouching. I don't think it looks busy at all (and I don't like busy dresses).

I think it's gorgeous too, and I am also confused.. it already has a sweetheart... ?  I would leave it just like in the picture.  And I love the cross-ruching! And the lace!

@MsInterpret - LOL!! she drew on the photo to make it look like a sweetheart neckline to help us see what she's talking about.

@Ngolden1 - don't take anything off!  why would you think adding a sweetheart would make it more busy?  there are plenty of dresses out there with crossed ruching and applique and all kinds of decorative details that also have sweetheart necklines.  It will be so pretty!  I'm actually surprised that dress wasn't designed to have a sweetheart as the angles of that kind of neckline work better with the angles of the ruching than a straight-across does.  Good thinking to get that changed, sweetheart necklines are so much more flattering.  I really love that dress, who's the designer?

I also think you confused a lot of people with the photoshopping of the pic lol!  i could tell right away tho, since you drew on it with practically an orange color instead of a true match to your skin tone.  But it does the trick, it gives a perfect image of what the dress will look like!

I would add the sweetheart to make it more like the picture. But then, I'm highly partial to sweethearts.

Very clever with the photoshop!  I definitely like the sweetheart but wouldn't change anything else.  I think the lace gives it a softer, more feminine look.

@Kemi82JP: Thank you for helping to clarify! I am apparently a very good photo-shopper, which I should have clarified in the opening post. The dress is an Enzoani...it's the Cadiz, which I haven't seen anyone else get! I get comments like "youre dress is so unique" and I started getting concerned that it had too many features that are unusual, and perhaps don't go together. Then I started feeling self-conscious and now the wedding is 3 weeks away and my nerves are out of control!

    1. I'm not big on lace so any chance to get rid of it I'm behind.

    2. I actually think the lace sort of gets lost in all the structural rouche-y stuff. I particularly would LOVE it without the lace.

    3. DEFINITELY add the sweetheart neckline. That adds something amazing to the dress. It really does.

I definitely think you can do the sweetheart neckline.  It does not make the dress busier because only alters the shape.  Also, that dress is definitely not too busy to me.  I think the ruching and applique are rather subtle.

The dress looks great as pictured.  Don't change anything. I do not think that the dress is too busy. The dress is gorgeous and there is absolutely no reason to feel self conscious!!!

Thank you! I am just curious because it seems people are more likely to not comment, but rather just vote, when they want to remove a feature. Why is it that some people WOULD remove the lace or cross-rouching?

@In the media: thanks for the detailed comment! I was wondering how the lace "goes" with the rest of the dress, so that is one perspective I can understand.
