    Hey all!!

I'm having some issues figuring out a color scheme and decoration idea for our wedding reception venue!

The space is beautiful!! See below.  It's a Beach Club so naturally renders itself somewhat casual in nature.  However, I would like to add some elegance with the flowers, linens, maybe even som ceiling drapery or lights??  I was leaning toward all white/ivory because the walls and floors are so dark...

What do you think!!?  How would you decorate this space?!?

Everything in this photo comes w/the rental (except the flower centerpieces).

Omg love the space.... thinking big swags of fabric from the rods going across the ceiling, think it would be a way to bring in some color and make it really cozy and intimate :)

Its so beautiful, you lucky girl! Personally I would incorporate some table runners in an ivory color (www.efavormart.com has some on the cheap) I would add white christmas lights on the wires (Target after christmas get them on the serious cheap like 50-90% off depending if you catch any left). Also you could do lanterns. I love how clean it looks though I'm not sure if I would do any draping.

I love the clean look of this. I'd do simple string lights or maybe lanterns.

You could also consider big paper pom poms too.

Otherwise, if you're on a budget - the space is really pretty as is.

Wow! You get those chairs, included? That's great cause the chairs that come for free at my venue are not so pretty and I'm gonna have to pay for nice ones.

Yeah everything is part of the rental - which wasn't so cheap in itself, but it helps!

I agree - I could literally do nothing with the space and it would be fine.  I just feel like this is an open canvas to do so much with!!  I just have no clue where to start!!?

maybe white paper lanterns and white twinkle lights? I love those chairs too!! I have also seen some pretty paper "stars", they are dimentional and multi-colored, which could be cute, depending on your colors/theme. What a pretty venue!!

I'm going to echo what the other bees are saying about paper lanterns/pom poms.  Do you have a color scheme in mind yet?  It helped me to look through some floral blogs for color schemes (I love the Full Bouquet: http://hollychappleflowers.typepad.com/thefullbouquet/ - the space on her current post looks like yours!) and also thinking about the time of year.

    It's a beautiful space!

Paper lanterns in varying shades of your wedding colors would look beautiful!

Wow, that is a beautiful venue. You definitely don't need to do very much. I agree that paper lanterns would look amazing.

I really like the minimalist look and wouldn't do much to the space. I think subtle complements like fairy lights and gorgeous centerpieces will do the trick. The simplest way to add a burst of color, if that's what you're after, is with the tablecloths according to your color scheme.

Edit: One thing to keep in mind is that once the room is filled with people, the decor doesn't really have to stand on its own any more. I understand the draw of wanting a gorgeous, knock-out room to start with, but you can actually go quite simple on decor and still manage to impress.

I think mostly everyone agrees that the paper lanterns and white lights on the ceiling would look great. Your venue is beautiful as is but will look even more gorgeous once you put a bride's loving touch. I for one, would use the fact that it's a beach club and use the sea as my theme. With centerpieces of sand and seashells and candles. Laughing

Can I chime in and ask what your date is? The season could really be played up well in such a great space as this!

Absolutely sweetcake.  It's an August wedding so lighter colors are definitely my draw.  Especially with the dark floors and dark walls.

I'm not too fond of the seaside theme.  I think it's a great idea and beautiful if done well - I'm just trying to make the room a bit more formal since it is a bit more casual than my fiance and I wanted.

Ooh, what about REAL lanterns then... like the IKEA kind? I worry that paper lanterns aren't that formal.

And i would do shades of cream/white like others suggested--it lends itself to being more formal and chic, or maybe glass?

Paper lanterns and seashells but I'd also have some uplighting on the walls to give it some ambiance and bring in the colors you're using for the wedding.  Your space is literally a blank slate, and that would bring a bit of color to the area.

Since you want a beachy theme, why not have a gobo created with your monogram and say a seaside flair to it projected on the wall during the entire reception?  You can get one here rather inexpensively.

I agree with everyone - string lights or lanterns around those top strings!

I agree with the rest of the gang, baby. Soft colors would be great in this space, but I would add touches of gold too (like Martha's gold and pink palette on her weddings site, but since I'm not so girly, I'd choose creams and maybe a light green with the gold). Or if you're not a fan of gold, you could gather lots of antique copper or silver vessels (like mint julip cups, urns, hurricane lamps and candelabras) and have cream flowers coming out of them for the tables.  It would be awesome if you could put something above or around those windows I see in your pic for framing. Your space can really flex to any style you want. Yeah, alright! Kudos to you! :)
