I picked Corinne. Just to be clear, you want people to say "core-REEN" right? Not "core-IN"?
@Juliepants: No the opposite. I want it pronounced core-in NOT core-een.
@Meowkers: OH.
Then I change my vote to Corin. Otherwise, if that kid comes up on my morning attendance, I'm saying "core-EEN"!
Well, I'm in a different country... but Corinne is the right spelling if you want core-In
@Juliepants: hmm I never even considered that alternate pronounciation. I've only ever heard it pronounced core-in. Thanks for pointing that out.
I picked "Corinne." (According to Wikipedia, "Various spellings of the name exist, although some attest that 'Corinne' is the most appropriate and age-old spelling. Other spellings include: Corrine, Corin, Corinn, Coryn, Korin, Cori, Corrinne, Corinna, Korinna, and Korinne.")
I'm not entirely sure but I voted for "Corrinne." That seemed the most right to me.
I'd vote for either of the spellings with two n's... the double consonant is supposed to be a signal that the vowel before it is short (ih) and not long (ee). Make sense? Like with the name Molly--everybody understands the 'o' is short; if it were one L it would look like it should be pronounced "moely."
Also, do you want the emphasis on the first or second syllable? When I think of that name I think of the emphasis on the second: CorINNE. If I saw the name "Corin" I would put the emphasis on the first syllable and I think most people would have the same instinct.
Hope that helps!
@Meowkers: I guess it would be like Core-In. Thats the best way I can think of spelling it.
and to me Corin is pronounced Co-rin, as in Corin Nemec from Parker Lewis Can't Loose / Stargate SGI Fame.
The version of this name that I know is pronounced "cur-in" but spelt Corinne.
LOL, I just read your first post closer and saw that you also wrote it Core-In. Sorry
Thats how my sister pronounces it as well. :)
Corin for your pronunciation. Corinne for the name though.....although I'm a bigger fan of Corina:)
I went to high school with a girl who spelled it Koren. She pronounced it more "Core-enn" though.
I voted CORIN... if you want people to pronounce it "COR-IN"... then that was the only one i pronounced that way
Corin is the most straight-forward, surefire way to prevent confusion, I think. I actually used to be called Corin, just how you want it pronounced, by a little girl I nannied for. It was her own version of my name.
I really like Y's for some reason, so I would probably go with something like Corynne or Corryn.. Not quite sure, but it's a little different..
I have a cousin named this (same pronunciation). It is spelled Corinne. :)
I've known three girls with this name (and pronounced core-in), and they were all spelled Corinne.

DH and I are no where near TTC but we have a future baby name list going :-) One of the names we love and is at the top of our list seems to have so many legitimate spellings that I'm totally confussed ast to how it should be spelled. I don't like weird alternative spellings for names so if you use this name I want to go with the proper spelling and the one which makes most sense to people.
So what do you think ladies, how would you spell this girl name?
And to be clear, the pronounciation is "core-in" NOT "core-reen"
