I’m sure it TOTALLY depends on the individual toddler, but I was wondering if a 2 year-old is a potential candidate for a ring-bearer? Actually TWO two year olds (my nephew and his nephew). I would love to have them be a part of our wedding but I don’t want to overwhelm the poor little things. It will be a fairly casual ceremony with 50 or so guests.
Has anyone had experience with ring-bearers as young as two?
Perhaps I should send them down the aisle holding the bridesmaids’ hands?

I think it’s ok to have two year olds as ringbearers, just be prepared for any tantrums, and I would have them walk down holding someone’s hand so they aren’t too overwhelmed 🙂

If you are going to go ahead then put the rings in a box or use fake rings on the pillow. My best friend used her 2 year old son as the ring bearer (had rings tied to a pillow) and the rings fell on the ground. The whole wedding party was looking for the rings everywhere…(The wedding was in a garden) We did find them eventually.
Children are funny…They are either going to be great (Love all the attention) or they are going to be shy/ cranky….You just have to time the naps and feeding well

i shall be watching the thread as my son is going to be our ring-bearer he will be just 2 but we will probly put him walking down with one of the bridesmaids
but i think it just depends on the child they will either love it or go all shy and refuse to go down

Our ring bearer was 2 1/2 years old. He walked down the aisle during the rehearsal with no problem. On the wedding day however, he wouldn’t walk. We kind of figured that would happen, so his mom carried him down the aisle. I think you just have to go into knowing that there is a good chance he’ll get scared by all of the people and not walk and his mom may have to carry him like ours did. He still looked adorable though! 🙂

My FI’s nephew will only be 18 months for our beach wedding next month. Instead of him being a ring bearer I am having him carry a “here comes the bride” pennant like this….
He loves flags so I think he will have no problem carrying that, and even if he drags it in the sand as he is walking it will still be adorable. As for walking…we are just gonna have his mom walk with him and hold his hand
