So I know that the south is the south and its freakin' hot no matter what, but hows August up there in NC (specifically Asheville)? The plan was for an August outdoor 10am ceremony and 12pm brunch in a covered outdoor dining area and I'd hate for guests to die XD

So is August morning tolerable in NC?

I don't live in NC but I've been there in August.. Usually its still super hot & the humidity is miserable.. We go to a lot of football games in East TN during September & we are even pretty miserable then.. If there is a lot of shade in the area your going to do the ceremony it may not be too bad that early.

I live in Carrboro, so central NC. August is the worst month in NC. The humidity is horrendous, and most days are above 90 degrees (usually over 96). Of course, Asheville is in the mountains, so that helps a bit. I just looked at weather.com's average temps for Aug 5 in Asheville, and the high is 84 and the low is 63. That's probably not including heat from the humidity, so I'd expect it to get closer to 90 in the afternoon. You should be ok for your ceremony (although having it in the shade would be nice), but I would recommend getting some fans for your 12pm brunch though, because it's going to start getting hot. You could also provide bottles of water and hand fans for guests during the ceremony (or parasols if it's out in the open). Mrs. Snow got married in Asheville in June, I believe, so you could look at her blog and maybe ask her for some advice.

@MadameLady:Since Asheville is in the mountains, we cool off nicely at night so the early mornings are nice. However, 10-noon would be getting pretty warm, but it's not near as bad as the rest of the south. If you're worried, you might consider doing an indoor reception.
