-We finalized our date

-Sent out Engagement party invites yesterday, which will happen early next month. So I’ve been working on things for that with my sister.

-We are visiting our final venue option on Friday.  I set a deadline to make our decision and put a deposit down by 9/1.

After we book the venue I want to start looking for DJ and Photo reccomendations.  Those will ideally be the next two things we book.

@ecrowe1218:  Yeah I think it is fairly common. We have not yet picked up a date becuase they (the church) adviced us that it could fall during a weekend in which church activities are held and they do not take weddings during that week so have to wait till then. I am really looking forward to confirm it because without that confirmation we cannot commit to anything yet.

@MissMay3003:

@ecrowe1218:

@Reynolds15:

Can I be nosy and ask what kind of venues you will be having your ceremony and/or reception at?

Wedding planning is on hold for us as this semester is particularly brutal but so far we’ve done the following:

  • set a date
  • booked the church
  • purchased my wedding bands
  • decided on a reception venue – a restaurant in the Auckland CBD – but we still have to book it
  • booked the photographer
  • booked our engagement session
  • purchased my dresses
  • decided on my bridesmaids – which was practically a given since I chose them back in high school lol and I’m fortunate that we’re still very close
  • decided on the theme/colours

@Miss Circe:  We’re having our reception at a local golf club.  Here’s a picture of the space at night:

They’re renovating the outdoor ceremony space at our venue, (scheduled completion 6/2014) so we’re going to wait until after that is complete to decide if we’ll have the ceremony at a church v. the golf club.

BTW: It sounds like you’ve got a lot already done!

  • set a date
  • had a budget conversations
  • decided on venue (still need to put deposit down)
  • decided on church

Everyone in the family thinks we’re nuts for putting a deposit down on a venue this early. Apparently no one has engagements over a year *rolls eyes*

@Miss Circe:  my mom thinks we’re nuts as well! I had to remind her that some of the places we’ve looked are already totally booked for 2014 so it’s not too far in advance.

We booked our venue/ceremony space, decided on a budget, formally aked bridesmaids/flower girl/ring bearer, got together a tenative guest list and started collecting addresses, In the proccess of booking a photographer, and also looking at officiants.

I am still having the worst time deciding on a color theme, but I have plenty of time for that. I am trying not to plan cause I am currently in school and it is taking away from study time, but I can’t help it. Everyone keeps telling me it’s too early to do everything, but i’m trying to lock in these 2013 prices while they are still low.
