- Wedding: February 2014
Any comments or suggestions? I pieced together a bunch of stuff from online and from our officiant and what he’s required to say.
Welcome, introductions etc from Officiant…
“The bride and groom kindly request that no pictures are to be taken during the processional or ceremony. However, before the wedding party exits, you will be invited to take as many pictures as you’d like. Lastly, please remain seated throughout the entire ceremony, including the bridal processional.”

We are here today to witness and celebrate as Bride and Groom come together in the union of marriage. They are very appreciative that you have taken the time to join them today and they are looking forward to spending the rest of the day celebrating with you.
Marriage is a commitment to life, the best that two people can find and bring out in each other. It offers opportunities for sharing and growth that no other relationship can equal. It is a physical and an emotional joining that is promised for a lifetime.
Call for Objections
With this understanding, Bride and Groom wish to be joined in marriage. Therefore, if anyone can show just and sufficient reason why these two persons may not be joined in matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.
Bride, do you know any reason why you are not able to marry Groom?
Groom, do you know any reason why you are not able to marry Bride?
Exchange of Vows
As no objection has been put forward, Bride and Groom wish to declare their vows to each other…
Please repeat after me:
I, ___________, take you, ___________, to be my lawfully wedded husband. I promise from this day forward to be your faithful wife/husband, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as I shall live.
Exchange of Rings:
Bride and Groom have chosen rings as outward symbols of the commitment they make today. From earliest times, the ring has been a symbol of wedded love. An unbroken and never-ending circle symbolizes a commitment to love that is also never ending.
As the ring is placed upon the finger, will you repeat these words:
_______, take and wear this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity.

Return to center…
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your cooperation in not taking pictures during the ceremony. At this time, we invite you all to snap away before the wedding party exits down the aisle.
Picture taking for 2 minutes…
Thank you everyone, please be seated and we will continue…
Declaration of Marriage:
Bride and Groom, you have declared your love and commitment before these witnesses and in my presence. You have exchanged these rings as a pledge of your love to each other – you have joined your hands in accepting one another.
Now, upon the authority vested in me by the Province of Alberta, I pronounce you husband and wife. Groom, you may now kiss your bride.
