So yeah just as the title says, J. K. Rowling said in an interview that Ron and Hermione should not have ended up together and they should have ended up in marriage counciling instead!
Not sure how I feel about this. My biggest beef with the epilogue and pairings was that all the main characters somehow became related to the Weasleys. Hell even Teddy Lupin was looking like he was marrying in.
What do you think… Should Harry and Hermione ended up together? Should Ron have married someone else?

When I thought Harry/Hermione was going to be a pairing, I HATED it.
Both of them are just so obnoxiously perfect all the freakI think they would have been an AWFUL Mary Sue/Larry Stu romantic couple.
So I LOVED the Ron/Hermione pairing!

Harry spent his whole life needing a family, and really what did we ever know about Hermione’s family? Wasn’t her family basically an afterthought? Both of them were better off with the Weasleys. Harry joining the family was a natural fit after their son’s death as well.
Harry and Hermione was the more logical pairing but come on. That would have been super boring.

I actually hated the Ron/Hermione pairing, and I thought it was really weird that suddenly everyone is everyone else’s cousin. It was too convenient. I wish she’d had Ron marry someone random or even not marry at all. I wish she’d thrown Dudley into the epilogue like she said she thought of doing too.

The epilogue was an epic cop-out. We’re all left to hunt out the good fanfic. Remember the days when nothing was set in stone and we could live in the delusion that our favourite ship would actually come to be? Snape + Malfoy 4eva! Kidding. Just saying, once upon a time all ships were theoretically on the table.
(But seriously. Ron and Herminone? Huh-uh. Not in my head. Never happened.)

I love that Harry married into the Weasleys. They were the only family he ever had, so I am glad he could be one officially. Plus, I would hate for HP to be another story where the hero gets the leading lady. I don’t like Harry with Hermione. I actually enjoy that they have this really deep friendship and can be as close as they are without the romance.
As for Ron and Hermione, I see what JK means. It’s a bit dysfunctional. I think it would have been fine for them both to marry others, but I also don’t mind that they’re together. I can take it or leave it.

Mmm NOPE. Harry should have married Draco. I mean, they rode a broomstick together. And Draco hugged him tightly from behind. =)

I have no problem with the Ron/Hermione relationship, but a Harry/Hermione one would’ve felt very awkward to me. I can’t even imagine it.
I would’ve preferred no epilogue.

I was never a Harry/Hermione fan. I loved that he thought of her as a sister. The epilogue was pretty bad, but I would have hated to see H/H end up together. Ron all the way!

Seriously I don’t think Hermione and Ron should have ever lasted…he was way too annoying lol Ron and Luna would’ve been more up my alley lol I don’t know if I think Hermione and Harry should’ve been the final way to go unless they changed their characters a bit because in the end, they were both way more serious than fun and I think there needs to be a better couple balance. Just my two cents 🙂

See I don’t buy “the Weasleys were Harry’s only family” line. BULL. Then why on earth did Rowling even bother to introduce Sirius Black? In my head, yes the Weasley’s were kind to Harry but Rowling killed Harry’s family off in book 5.
I don’t think Harry and Hermione would have worked either. Hermione bossed him around too much to make that a functional relationship either. And I LOVE Hermione but Ron didn’t seem to put up with Hermiones crap.
And I’m not gonna lie I wanted Neville and Luna together in the worst way. LOL! Don’t know why but I did!

I hate that she come out and said this! Harry and Ginny were a great match, but H/R always struck me as one that wouldn’t work long term. Hermione needed someone smart enough to entertain and challenge her I think.

I actually just saw this a couple of minutes ago on entertainment weekly site. For me personally I wanted Harry/Hermione together until about book four when it was obviously written on the wall That it would be Ron/Hermione. Although if went with H/H I think it would have made more since and also either way he would still have had a family if he married Hermione or Ginny. Plus deep down I really felt the the H/G thing happen to fast and it slightly felt force. And I have read the books so many times and analyzed them that more much more and I always felt that way about H/G.

@the_newlymintedmrs-s17: Neville and Luna were clearly the most perfect couple that could have been paired!
Oh, and I agree with everyone that the epilogue never should have happened. Then we could all believe in our own fantasies.

@the_newlymintedmrs-s17: Throughout the whole series I always had it in my mind that Harry and Hermoine were going to become some great love story, but they obviously didn’t. I’m not that mad about it. I really loved the series over all. Man, now I want to go watch it, but I don’t have 16+ hours to kill.
