So we are getting married at a park, everything is going to be outside. We can rent tables and chairs from the park. However, the tables are the round ones with the umbrella in the middle. How the heck am I supposed to get a tablecloth on that? I was going to just do paper tablecloths (we can’t afford to rent linens because we used that money for a photographer. Argh to small budgets!)
Do you think it would be ok if we just went without a tablecloth?
As for the centerpieces I am planning on doing just a simple vase with roses and some votives around it. Do you think that will still look ok even with a pole in the middle of the table?

Can the umbrellas be removed? If not you might have to go without tablecloths since even if there is a hole in the linen it wont go up and around the umbrella. Maybe you can do cute placemats if you dont like the tables bare? I think the centerpieces will still look good, especially with the votives to even things out.

I was going to suggest placemats too 🙂 What kind of tables are they? wood?

I think you could still make paper tablecloths. Cut a hole in the middle, take the umbrella top off and slide the cloth down.
Or cut a seam and put a ribbon down the seam…put a ribbon on the opposite side or a few ribbons staggered. It could be really pretty and match your colors. (Martha Stewart had something like it in her Weddings magazine, I think.)

I think they are your normal outdoor umbrella in the middle kind of tables.
I like the idea of placemants, that might work.
I think my biggest problem is that I haven’t seen our venue… We booked it online because it was in our budget and in our favorite place of all – Lake Tahoe! I’m basically going on word of mouth at this point. Everyone we talk to says it’s a really nice park.
After talking to the FI last night if we don’t come up with a solution for the tablecloth we are ok with just leaving the tables as is. No need to stress over the little things! (I really have to tell myself that 20 times a day! But it does help!)
