If she's only doing it for the money, then yeah, that's pretty close to being a prostitute. I don't have anything against prostitutes though.
If she's doing it not only for the money but also because she loves him, then she's not behaving like a prostitute.
I think it's hard to put modern conceptions on historical things-- we don't know how people were truly acting or what their motives were back then.
Nowadays, we might call someone like that a golddigger, though? Because if she's sleeping with him, isn't attracted to him, but wants his marriage and security? Sounds like she's in it for the money.
However, there are many people who have different sex-drives than their partners-- I don't think it's prostitution when you don't feel up to it but are compromising to make your partner happy.

So FI read this article Leahhh posted a couple nights ago.
We had a pretty heated debate cause he says:
"If a woman doesn't like sex but agrees to sleep with her husband in order to "secure" him and for him to keep supporting her, then she qualifies as a whore, cause she's sleeping with him for his money"
I happen to disagree cause at the end of the day he's her husband, so she's not a whore.
What do you bees think?
