Hey bees! We are having trouble with picking our venue!
We found one that we absolutley LOVE, but the only thing is the food isn’t what we were looking for, and it is a little higher in price.
The other place we found we love too, we just like the other place a little better. But this place we customize our menu and can have whatever we want, and it is gonna come out to be about $2000 cheaper, possibly more(BIG deal for us)
So basically we are choosing venue over food. We want to book soon, so we can lock in our prices!
Please help! What would you do?

at most of weddings i’ve been to, i don’t usually remember all the details of the venue. i might remember if it was pretty (or not pretty) or if the bathroom was nice, lol. but it’s not really something that stays with me for too long. the food is what makes more of an impression. no matter how long ago the wedding was, i still remember how good (or not good!) dinner was or how big or small the portions were. i definitely think the menu is what makes your reception more memorable.

I had something similar. A venue I loved but the food was so-so and way expensive (like $12,000 to rent which is a big deal in the mid-west). Found another place I love, we find our own caterers, we can have the ceremony there as well for $800 to rent after 5 the night before and until midnight the day of the wedding. UM no brainer for us.
Pick the cheaper with better food. You’ll be happier you did.

I would go with the good enough venue with the good food you can customize. Honestly, at the end of the day, it’s not where you got married that will matter. If it’s a decent venue, you and your guests will be happy as long as there is a good crowd, good mucic and good food.

i had similar issues when choosing our venue. i went with the 2nd nicest looking venue. so glad we did. they were WAAAAY more accommodating to our needs with food, decor, parking, etc. they were also less expensive. the food and service was exceptional. there was zero stress with them – very important. i was incredibly pleased with our decision.
