@Heidigm221: Oh hon, I'm so sorry! That is so devastating, but it sounds like you are taking it relatively well. Are all your vendors understanding?
Hugs to you!
That Irene is such a hussy! Taking your wedding day from you-how low can she get!
Glad that you are already able to see the bright side.
I was waiting for a bee to post about this...so sorry you have to go through this..but I'm really happy to see that you are very positive about it!
That sucks that your wedding was canceled but Atleast you are all safe! Also I am so glad that you are looking at the upside!
Love your attitude about the situation! Who does Irene think she is, anyways?! Wishing you the best!
@Heidigm221: wow.. i'm so sorry. I would be devastated.. what about honeymoon plans??
You are handling this so well! Hope you are safe and that other brides are so accomodating like you :-)
Just wanted to chime in and say, 'wow', you have a great attitude about this. That really sucks that your wedding day has been postponed, but your October wedding sounds lovely!!
You are handling this so well! Hope you are safe and that other brides are so accomodating like you :-)
I am so sorry that Irene spoiled your day, but you have the best attitude about changing the date and the date works perfectly with you two personally. You go girl!
@Heidigm221: So sorry that Irene ruined your day. Way to look on the bright side though. Stay safe in this storm!
So sorry to hear that Irene has spoiled your day. Glad that you are able to see the bright side though.
It will be fine in the long run though. The most important thing is not the wedding, it's the marriage and being with the person you love.
You have a great attitude about this :) Its nice to see someone actually dealing with something major and not wallowing in their own self pity. I hope you have a great October wedding, fall is beautiful!
Most people say rain on your wedding day is good luck... but you got a HURRICANE! Sure sign the marriage will last :)
Seriously though, I'm sorry to hear that. You will have a wonderful Fall wedding.
I'm so sorry to hear your wedding was cancelled, but at least you are able to move it back at an awesome date!! :)
I'm so sorry! Your positive attitude is so inspiring! You will have a beautiful October wedding.
You have a great attitude. I'm so sorry that your plans didn't happen on schedule and hope you didn't loose too much money in perishables, travel, etc.
@Heidigm221: Omg I am SO sorry! I admire your ability to look at the bright side!
Btw...are we twins? October is my favorite month, and Halloween is my favorite holiday too! I am getting married in October as well :) Not only is it my favorite month, but we are getting married on my parents' anniversary.
Best of luck with your October wedding!!
Hey my birthday is October 28th! That's a very good day indeed... and it's always been perfect weather for me ;) I'm sorry your special day has to be pushed back =( but if you had to make a compromise I say October is a great 2nd choice! I am in love with fall/ Halloween and of course my birthday lol.
Everything happens for a reason and if you are happy,we are!! GL and keep us updated!
I am so sorry! I'm glad you are able to look on the bright side! Good luck with everything.
My wedding was supposed to be outside today in Hoboken. On Thursday my tent company called me and told me that they wouldnt set up the tent for a Saturday wedding because of the hurricane and we began to realize that the wedding wouldnt happen at all. We decided then to move the wedding Friday and miraculously every single vendor came through and we only lost 7 guests! We had amazing weather and I still can't believe we pulled it off!
Wow, I'm super impressed with how cool you're handling this! As an October bride/wife, it's a great month to be married;)
Otober is the best month for a North East girl :)
I admire your ability to go with the flow, I think it makes you next wedding date even more special!
Did you have to call everyone?
Our wedding had to be canceled as well :( We were supposed to be married today (the 28th) in Westchester but had to make the decision to postpone until October. I keep reminding myself that earlier this week when I saw that the forecast was calling just for rain, I was devastated and heartbroken that I wouldn't be able to have the ceremony and photos outside. Now that we had to postpone, I look at it as a second chance for a beautiful day! :)
OMG... I am so sorry... I never thought about all the brides out there... I hope you are safe!
@megillson: YES I feel the same way! I'm actually relieved, i feel like the 27th snuck up on me and i still had things i wanted to do, PLUS as i said before, i <3 October, i really really do. I think the pictures will be even more spectacular ;)
@mrs.Argentina & Tracylesq: Yeay october!! :) Since we were all together for the rehearsal dinner, my bridal party and family took charge and spread the word, anddd... as ridiculous as this sounds, i posted it on Facebook and was able to notify a significant # of people that way.
@ All my bees, i've had such a great time reading your comments and replies, thank you so much!! I'm so grateful for this board!
Thank you all so much for your good luck wishes and kind words of support. Y'all are the BEST!!
xoxoxo
Oh man, I was waiting for posts like these to pop up.:( That totally sucks, but I love your positive outlook. Now you just have a little more time to plan, right? ;) Hangi n there!
im SOOOO sorry!!!! they say rain brings good luck so im sure Tsunami type weather will bring you even MORE luck :-)
My wedding also got cancelled on August 27 as our venue is on Long Island City in NY and they had a mandatory evacuation....and we have not yet been able to reschedule a date...today they gave us four dates that are available for the rest of 2011: 9/11, 12/23, 12/24...I'm devasted. The last date is Sunday, November 6 and we may have to take it if we want to get married this year...I'm still having a very difficult time accepting it all! But I know I'm not alone.
So sorry to hear all of this!! Glad that everyone is safe and able to take it in stride.
What happen to out of town guests? Are they able to come back for the new date?
@mabinqueens: I feel your pain :~(
After you've put your heart and soul into this planning, and imagined your wedding and how everything would be, AND planned for a saturday night,,,, it's not an easy pill to swallow :(
Is your venue willing to work with you on the cost for moving from a Saturday night to a Sunday (if you were to take Nov 6th)?
November is still a beautiful time of year, and lots of people have weddings on Sundays. BUT I know how you feel, trust me.
Did you have a lot of out-of-town guests that might not be able to come back?
Do you know if your vendors will be available on the 6th, if not are you going to lose the deposits?
What is your florist doing to "help you out?"....
@Donnica22: Some guests from out of town may not be able to make it, and also some guests that were excited to come, now won't be able to for the new date because they'd already planned vacations :( But then again, others that weren't able to come to the first date, will be there for the new date... you know?
sigh.
My wedding was cancelled on August 28th in CT... it was rescheduled for October. I agree it will be a great month!! :)
Good luck
We lucked out and a wedding for Saturday, Nov 5 was cancelled (they never put down a deposit and it somehow slipped through the cracks)! So we did get our Saturday afterall. We're excited for the date, but it has still be difficult for me to get back into the wedding planning excitement. I'm sure it will return eventually.
Good luck to all the brides effected by Irene!

hi bees,
Am sitting at home today, and just wanted to share my story.
so, today was supposed to be my wedding day. I was getting married at The Skylands Castle, at the NJ Botanical Gardens, but the state park grounds were evacuated last night because of Irene. (Sidenote: I grew up on/and parents still live on street called Irene Court... ha)
The venue called me yesterday around 4p to give me the bad news while we were on our way to the church rehearsal.
I was devestated, but now i'm OK with the idea that i'll be having a fall wedding in October... i'm in love with the venue so i'm going from a Saturday wedding in August to a Friday wedding in October because that's all they have available. Reasons why i'm not jumping out a window right now:
October is my favorite month
Fiance and i met oct 29th
Halloween is my favorite holiday, ever.
venue is available the 21st and 28th
Any other brides get cancelled on today?? :( Hope my hurricane brides are doing ok
xo
