I was just wondering, where are all you hurricane season brides (August-November) going/went for your honeymoon?  Any good recommendations for places, hotels, etc?

i'm planning on Barbados for October...  I've also heard that Aruba is outside of the hurricane belt... of course you could just avoid hurricanes all together and go to Hawaii :)

I'm actually getting married in the virgin islands in August (beginning of hurricane season) and from everthing i've read and been told, we should be safe. I think the statistics is something like 2 hurricanes in the past 10+ years during that month. So we're keeping out fingers crossed that this isn't "the year".  We went to St. Thomas last year for labor day and it rained for about 20 minutes the entire week we were there. Even though everyone told us we were crazy.

btw.. i 2nd tater.. if we weren't already planning the wedding for the caribbean i would definitely go to tahiti/south pacific!

Even if I were getting married during hurricane season, I would probably go to the Caribbean. Just get travel insurance!

Bad weather can hit anywhere any time! Thats a risk we all have to take. And Hawaii has it's fair share of storms , not all are named hurricanes but there REALLY bad windstorms  , and stunami's are not unheard of. I've lived in south florida all my life so maybe I'm just immune to the worry... but I'd perfer a storm I can see comming!!

Oh and Lady June is the offical beginning of Hurricane season , August and September are just traditional peaks

We're going to Canada, Lake Louise and Banff. I'm excited since it's a little bit different.

The pacific side doesn't get a "hurricane season" - so the west coast of Mexico is a great spot to go. I was in Puerto Vallarat in late August/early September and it was beautiful and hurricane free.

becca8098 - you're going to my neck of the woods - good job!

We're going to British Columbian part of the Rocky Mountains - we thought that we should save a bit of money so that we can go to Europe once I'm done my degree. Plus, we both love hiking and mountains anyways, so it seemed natural.

A suggestion might be to go to the pacific side of Mexico if you wanted to go to someplace south but not too far south?

We are getting married in August, and looked at Cabo, Hawaii, Europe, and Tahiti/Fiji/South Pacific. We settled on Greece. There is also Chile, Belize (those 'eco-honeymoons'). Good luck!
