So after I got compliments from people at work, I worekd extra hard at the gym friday and saturday morning. Well satuday afternoon I picked up a stack of invites to box them all up for delivery and my back went. Now I can’t work out at all, and don’t know how long I’ll be out of comission! I’m freaking out because the wedding is in 9 weeks and I can barely walk!

Ouch! I’d recommend talking to a physical therapist to see what the problem is and how you should treat it. Also, RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevate — not sure how you’ll do that last one!) is a popular (and useful) way of treating sports injuries!

Do you have access to a whirlpool or a hot tub? It should help ease the pain too. Good luck!

This happens to me a few times a year. Sometimes, its just beding the wrong way. If you have any muscle relaxers that can help, as well the ThermaCare heating pads are my favorite. You’ll be able to walk in a couple days, but still have the pain. It usually takes me 4-5 days to feel completely 100%. I hope you fell better.

Might you be able to ease back into it (after some time off to heal, of course) by doing a water aerobics class or swimming? Its low impact, so it might not agrivate your back like another excercise will…

Ugh I know how you feel! I actually threw my back out the first day Fiance and I got to Hawaii for vacation last year. I felt better with one day left. It lasted aboue 6 full days for me.
Just take it easy, and I second looking into the ThermaCare pads!
