Yaaaay! What an unexpected surprise because not a whole lot of help on the wedding planning front – “whatever you like is fine.” So this is a pleasant surprise, because I hate writing thank you notes! He said when we got back from the honeymoon, if you get the cards, I will write the notes but he didn’t want to wait too long to do it. I literally ran out of the house and bought the first thank you note cards I could find. Done. Yahoo! What have you beensurprised by your FH doing for the wedding?.

FI has been involved in everything. He will also be writing the thank you cards for his family and his guests.

Good for you! Mine got excited about planning his (and his brother’s) wardrobes and got seriously into choosing the cake/cupcakes. He’s great because he always manages to get excited about whatever I’m into at the time. He even watched Say Yes to the Dress with me and gave mane dress opinions while looking on websites. He doesn’t want to write thank you notes though… even for members of his family I will have never met before. Apparently he was under the impression that it’s strictly the bride’s thing. ugh.

Awesome! We split the thank you cards by family. I wrote the ones of my family, he did the ones for his. My family is far bigger but I was just grateful he didn’t mind.

DH also did the thank yous for most of his friends and family. Mine were a little more eloquent (I gave him a sample), but we were able to finish most of them last night.
@Taeyers: It’s not “strictly the bride’s thing,” especially when you haven’t met them. Fortunately you have time to get him on board with this. 🙂

My husband was amazing about writing the thank you notes! We split them up evenly and had them done the day of for some of our showers and within 2 weeks of getting back from the honeymoon! It was so nice to team together! Love him so much!

Thats awesome!! My Husband helped me write thank you cards, i think my eyeballs popped out of my head when he told me he would write some!

We split it. We worked like a factory. One of us would address the envelope, while the other wrote the note. We changed it up every 10 or so, so we didn’t get into a rut.
We also made sure to write ones for extra special gifts to our own family members.

I wish my fiance would be writing the thank-you cards but his handwriting is freaking atrocious! So I will be writing them and he will just add a little note, one sentence if that, for his own personal touch.

My husband dd the Thank you cards for his family and friends, though when people were ambguous, I did most of theirs.
He was pretty laid back with the wedding planning and mostly served the purpose of cheerleader during my projects.
BUT he did help bake the wedding cake, for which I was very grateful.

My FI had been very “whatever you like is fine” and mostly uninvolved until our invites showed up over the weekend. He was dead set on helping. We got the pocket kind where you need to assemble the pockets yourself and insert everything and he helped with everything! He even made one of his grooms men get involved!! I was so relieved and appreciative and surprised since I thought I was going to have to do it all by myself!!! (My bridal party and family doesn’t live nearby otherwise I would have made them help!)

@Foreverblonde345: During the wedding planning he has been SOOOOOOOOOO over the top helpful. Some ideas I’ve been like, “Um please keep that thought to yourself” (ie: he wanted to stick a steer, dead of course, on a rotisserie for our dinner and have everyone cut a slice off lol. Sad thing was he was SERIOUS!) But his other ideas have been wonderful! Like helping me pick out our flowers, what’s going on the tables, having a band play our first dance song. I definitely feel so lucky! 🙂 🙂

@Nik428: Hahaha! That is too funny! The only reason why I’m laughing is because mine wanted to have a pig roast wedding?! What?! Yeah, he was serious. I don’t think that even computes in my family’s realm of possible. My sister would’ve staged a protest for the pig’s rights, my nieces would’ve cried and I think I would’ve thrown up.
Thats sweet that your FH is so helpful!

That’s amazing!!!! I don’t think I’ll get so lucky lol. He’s been great with letting me make whatever decisions I want (he only wanted to help with the food tasting of course!) but sometimes a little direction would be nice!!
