I don’t have good advice, but I do want to say puggles are so cute! My husband has a puggle and now she’s my baby too.

TBH, most dogs do pick a favorite. There is nothing anyone can do. I’m sure the dogs don’t dislike him…they just like you more. XD

@RiverBride13:  If he is the main care taker (feeds, walks, cleans) then they probably treat him with more respect. They probably associate you with fun and cuddles but see him as the pack leader. Our borders growing up always treated my dad differently but that was because he was the person in charge. If I was around the borders would feel more relaxed and silly but that had a lot to do with where I was on their totem pole.

This is all just a guess since I don’t know how their attitude changes or what behavior changes your hubby can see.

@RiverBride13:  Her name is Pepsi. When I asked hubby why they chose that name, he said she looks like a can of Pepsi…XD I just love that thing. Her ears are sooooooooo soft, and it’s so cute that she always trying to get under a cover. She has the best personality. She is mild tempered and soooo loving.

YESS puggles are the BEST.

@RiverBride13:  You have to remember that even domesticated animals still go by the rules of the wild 🙂

@Payless:  I agree with this assessment! My sister and BIL’s puppy is primarily taken care of by my BIL, because my sister works crazy hours (sometimes nights / sometimes days) and is in grad school right now. So the puppy looks to him as the one she respects and who provides her with what she needs – walks, attention, food, training, potty breaks, etc. But when my sister comes home from work, all bets are off and the puppy goes insane! She still excited-pees on the floor when she sees my sister and seems to forget all about my BIL just desperate for attention from my sister. It’s both adorable and kind of sad at the same time, but they both get it.

Our dog has a different relationship with DH and with me. I had Phoebe before I met him, so that’s part of it but not all. I am “mommy” and we cuddle and snuggle and when she’s scared of fireworks or something she goes to me. DH is more of her playmate–they wrestle and play tug of war and have little game they play. If we’re sitting on the couch, she goes to him and sits on his lap, but sometimes she’ll take my hand in her mouth and bring me into the bedroom for a cuddle in bed. (Yes I know she’s spoiled.) SHe doesn’t prefer one or the other of us, she just has different things she likes to do with each one of us.

Fun story: The first time DH met Phoebe was our 3rd or 4th date. We took her to the dog park and then went back to my apartment to hang out. We were laying on the couch making out and Phoebe was snoozing on the floor. All of a sudden she jumped on the couch and landed in between us. She pushed her back against me and knocked me on the floor and took my spot and just started licking and cuddling him. All we could do was laugh, it was hilarious.

My dog totally sees me as more of a comforter. We both feed and care for him, and he cuddles with both of us. but he prefers to play with FI, and he knows FI is a bigger softie with food. But when he is hurt or sick, he just wants his mommy. He latched onto me from the moment we adopted him, and at first he had a competetive relationship with FI. FI tried to play with him, but due to prior abuse, he didn’t trust FI, he was too unpredictable. Then we did obedience school and FI did most of the handling. Their relationship grew like crazy, he totally fell in love with FI. His favorite switched back and forth for a while, but at this point I’d say he likes us equalTy, just differently. But obedience and training could be something your FI could try to build his relationships with the pups.
