So between all the people involved in my parents life and my FI’s family, we are looking at having anywhere from 400-500 people at our wedding =O
Any bees had large weddings/receptions?? Any advice?
This is going to be a nightmare….
(We can’t really have less people, a certain amount of people have to be invited because of the way my culture works, my parents are immigrants and have ties with many other immigrants that came to the US, all those people must be invited otherwise it is disrespectful) (Believe me, I would love to invite just close friends and family)

Wow, that sounds like a fun reception! Where are you having it?

You sound like me- keeping it small at 350. I’m hoping its not a zoo- which is what I’ve been calling it. I thought to make it a cocktail/hors d’oeuvres only reception- plated dinner would be waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money. Like you, family immigrated over, church family and friiends are also major additions. I need as much help as you! I’m offering support!

Find a venue that is used to handling that volume of people. There’s a Chinese restaurant that has an upstairs ballroom that can seat up to 800 (!) people. It’s usually divided into smaller rooms, but multiple wedding receptions are there all the time on Saturdays.
If the venue is used to that capacity, it can save you some headaches.

Yea it is difficult to find a reception hall. I found a church that can hold up to 1000 people, and it’s beautiful! So that takes care of that. A lot of the nice places have food and drink minimums. Thats diffiuclt.

Im also curious what budgets have been for bigger weddings. We are having a dry reception, but plated dinners are still expensive
