We have a Cockapoo (half Cocker Spaniel, half miniture Poodle) named Toby. He is the sweetest little guy. He was one year old when we got him and he was a puppy mill rescue. A lot of people seem critical of the idea of purposely breeding a "mutt" but I love the mix of characteristics. Anyone else have a hybrid dog? Here is a picture of Toby with our daughter.
I have a puggle (pug/beagle) and I absolutely love him! I think both my husband and I are now addicted to the breed. I know the second picture is blurry but I love it! I had to take it really quick before he realized all of his teeth were sticking out.

I call my dog a Boston Bulldog (Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix)
around 1 yr in the picture below:
Puppy Broderick @ 6 weeks:
Here is Bosley, our cockapoo. We got him from the Humane Society when he was about a year old. He is the sweetest lovebug, and has a spunky, playful personality and he doesn't shed. I love poodle mixes- Goldendoodles, Schnoodles, Maltipoos, St. Bernadoodles, all of them!
I have a bernese mountain dog x Newfoundlander ( 8 months old) and a Bernese mountain dog x greatPyrenees ( 5 months ) we had a purebred Bernese and loved her but had to put her down at 6 years old. We will never get a purebred again and love our crosses!
@LyndzJM: Oh please, please, please post a pic of your puppies!!! (Click on the picture link at the top of your new post, next to the HTML link, to upload a pic.) I LOVE BMDs, newfies, and pyrenees dogs, and I would love to see the hybrids. Those dogs are just like big snuggly bears- so, so cute!!
Oh sooo adorable!
Our lil gal Sophie is a pom mix! Not sure with what, but if you ladies want to guess that would be lovely!
We rescued her from a local shelter & she is the SWEETEST dog EVER!

I love mutts! I don't care for the cutesy names given to them in an effort to make them seem like a new breed. They are mixes and mutts, plain and simple....I love them, but hate the intentional breeding of them. Also, the term hybrid implies the crossing of two different species, such as a dog and a wolf breeding would make a hybrid. Crossing two different breeds within the same species just makes a mixed breed. Anyway, here's my golden retriever/lab mix, Buddy!

He was supposed to be a foster dog, but by his second day with us, I looked at him and said, "I don't think I can give you up!" FOSTER FAILURE= the BEST kind of failure!
@Mrs.Estep: She looks like she's got some chihuahua or possibly papillion in there, to me! The second pic especially looks like a long-haired chi with a pom tail, but that could just be the pic.
@paperumbrella: we have the same taste in dogs and the same wedding date :)
I still can't figure out how to post from my iphone..
so this is rather large now that I'm home, but if i can't figure out how to load a picture from my phone, i'm sure not going to be able to figure out how to make this one smaller haha. they were about 3/6 months in this picture. the black one is the bernese/newfie
@paperumbrella: Yes, the non-shedding part is fantastic. Bosley is adorable.
My dog, Leonidas, is a Dorkie which is a mix between a Daschund and a Yorkie. I found him on Craiglist after I had to put my very loving Bugsy Cat down. He's awesome, but I can't potty train him no matter what I do.
Oh, I'm having trouble uplaoding a pictuer of him. Just imagine adorable wrapped in awesomeness.
We have a Rotti/pitbull mix.
His name is bronx and he is the biggest suck on the face of the earth and we love him so much (except when he go on my nice couch!)

@Miss Apricot: Feel the EXACT same way as you! When I worked at a vet clinic, my co-workers and I rolled our eyes when we asked what breed they're dog/puppy was and they would reply with "Goldendoodle" or "Puggle" or "Cockapoo". It's a mixed breed, a mutt. Irked us even more when breeders sell these "new breeds" for a mint.
Our baby is a Snorkie/Schnorkie (two spellings)! (Schnauzer/Yorkie) And a darn cute one! She takes after her Yorkie daddy a little more than her Schnauzer mom but sometimes , especially after she is groomed, the schnauzer is her comes out!
Also, we need more recent pictures of her!
This is my cockapoo, Matty. He and I have been together for 8 1/2 years.

@CherryWaves: I think telling the breed to the vet is important, since a lot of ailments tend to affect some breeds more than others.
@Miss Apricot: Ditto to all. I love mutts but I don't think they should be bred intentionally and certainly not branded as a new breed. But, they are awfully cute generally and our next dog will probably be a mutt from the pound. My current dog is a pure breed but that was just a fluke of what was available when I searched rescues at the time I wanted a dog.
This is Maverick. He is a lab-shepherd X, we think! He was a rescue so we don't know for certain but we are 95% sure that is what he is.
This was Mav at 11 wks

We have a min-pin/Australian shepherd rescue, Rylee. I've never seen another dog that looks like her!
@Miss Apricot: I agree 100%.
Our first family dog was a mutt and she was amazing.
She came from a golden retriever rescue and was a golden, kuvaz, german shepherd mix.
Currently I just have a cat from the ASPCA, but once I have the space I'm looking forward to adopting a dog as well.
@strawbabies:This issue is that "cockapoos" etc aren't really a breed. They are a cocker poodle mix. So you tell the vet the mix of your dog (if you know it).
@TheFutureMcBride: My dog, Leonidas, is a Dorkie which is a mix between a Daschund and a Yorkie. I found him on Craiglist after I had to put my very loving Bugsy Cat down. He's awesome, but I can't potty train him no matter what I do.
Yeah, I don't think the people who decided to mix those two breeds really thought that one through. LOL! Both Daschunds and Yorkies are known for being difficult to potty train on their own. I don't think I would mix the two breeds if for no other reason than that. If would do research on potty-training Daschunds and Yorkies as individual breeds and see if you can find any tips specific to the breeds that you may not have tried.
This is Jasmine. She had to be put down last week because she was very ill. I miss her so much. She was a yorki/pomeranian mix. RIP Jasmo.
I have a peketzu half shih tzu half Pekingese. Her name is Ellie and shes the sweetest little girl! Although the peke in her makes her a little stubborn. She just turned 3! We also have 2 pure bread shih tzus all rescues !
Our baby is a rescued "Luggle" lol - his owner's lab & puggle had a litter of puppies and she dropped all nine of them off at the animal control office to be put down. Our neighbor rescued and fostered them, and he's the best dog ever!
And now my two little munchkins Bailey and Winston. Bailey is a pom mix and Winston is a chi/daschund mix.
Winston likes to "smile" when he is happy. He is such a little ham!
Ah, so many cute puppies! My FIL and SMIL recently got a Pomapoo, which I'm dying to see--especially after finding this picture on Google. It sounds like a weird combination, but I think they're actually pretty damn cute. :)
@BoiledPNut: OMG I want that puppy right now! If only I knew I'd be a responsible pet owner. Alas, I'm questionable at best so I'm not allowed to get a puppy.
This is Thunder. He is a German Shepard/Collie/maybe Husky or Chow mix. He gets really shaggy if he doesn't get a hair cut at least every few months. He is the most wonderful, loyal and calm dog that I have ever met. We also have a pure Lab and she was a lot harder to train and stayed in the puppy stage much longer.

Here's Rufus, our shelter mutt! We think he's a pomeranian/schipperke mix. He's about 10 pounds.

@CherryWaves: It's a mixed breed, a mutt. Irked us even more when breeders sell these "new breeds" for a mint.
@CorgiTales: I love mutts but I don't think they should be bred intentionally and certainly not branded as a new breed.
Exactly...irresponsible people breed these "designer mutts" and then ask mega-bucks for puppies as if they are some new breed. They are a MUTT, plain and simple, and can be found in shelters across the country, (in these exact same mixes). It amazes me that people won't pay $300 for a mutt from the shelter that has been vetted and fixed, but they will pay the same amount OR MORE from a breeder or worse, a pet store, because they think they are getting a purebred "Cockapoo" or "Golden-Doodle" or whatever, (and then pay for vetting and altering on top of that). In truth, creating a new breed takes years and years of selective breeding, and breeding multiple generations of the same "breed" as opposed to breeding two seperate breeds, (for example, breeding a "cockapoo" to another "cockapoo" as opposed to breeding a cocker spainel to a poodle).
My current dog is a mutt, as well as my previous two dogs. We've fostered a variety of dogs, most of them mixed breeds. They are every bit as adorable, loveable, and wonderful as purebred dogs...they just shouldn't be purposely bred.
