eeek! $250 for 30 stems?! try sam’s club. They have 20 stems for $52.46. The reviews are fabulous and that price includes shipping! I odered flowers from them (online) to see the quality (for my DIY trial run) and they were great. Just follow the care instructions and you should be ok.

I think one stem per vase would be ok. Most of the heads of hydrangea are pretty large. Here is a pic I found online, looks like they have one stem per vase and I think it looks great.

I still think it would look nice with taller vases

This is more than one head per vase but if you get the flowers from Sams they still won’t be as expensive as your florist is quoting. Simple to do- just tie the stems together under the heads of the flowers.

This one has greens wrapped around the inside of the vase for extra interest

The florist is definitly chargeing retail, it ranges from 8.00 to 15.00 per stem retail. See if she can help you out a little on the price at all. Florist pay anywhere from 2.00 to 5.50 per stem just depends.

ETA: I only mention the costs because just like you I am a bride on a small budget. I was lucky for flowers because  my sister works for a Florist, so I got everything at wholesale with the great quality florists provide. Just my personal preference to support local businesses, like my ring I bought it from a local family jewler instead of a chain. And even if my sister didn’t get me the flowers I would have still bought from a local business instead of a chain. Just my preference there is nothing wrong with it 🙂

I am not sure why the florist is trying to charge you retail for flowers they dont need to do anything to. I agree that you should just go wholesale. They are the exact same flowers you’d be getting from the florist.
